Luongo's days as a Canuck are all but over. He will be gone sometime early next year, perhaps on the trading deadline. Cory Schneider is only 25, and is ready to break out as a superstar goalie. Luongo proved that he can't lead the canucks to the Stanley Cup, when it appeared they would have wisely benched Lou for Games 3,4,6, and 7 in favor of Schneider.
There is the issue of the huge cap hit Luongo would cause if he was traded, but never underestimate the stupidity of NHL General managers. Just look at Rocky DiPietro. I am willing to throw down money and bet that the Nucks will trade Lou for that missing piece of the puzzle (a player with heart and talent), who can be a key factor in the Canucks 2012 Stanley Cup pursuit.

I don't know, I can't imagine a GM stupid enough to take on the contract, mind you there was one stupid enough to give it to him. I sure hope the Jets never get into contracts like that

Roberto Luongo's stats at the end of October:
Games: 7 Wins: 3 Losses: 3 SO Losses: 1 Goals against Average: 3.54 Saving Percentage: 0.869 Shutouts: 0
Not exactly Vezina trophy numbers.
Cory Schneider's stats (in Comparison):
Games: 5 Wins: 2 Losses: 2 SO Losses: 0 Goals against Average: 1.97 Saving Percentage: 0.927 Shutouts: 0
If I was the Canucks GM, I would definitely trade Luongo. Schneider is one of the NHL's future top goalie's and Luongo is past his prime, and his trading value is starting to diminish. Vancouver should trade him ASAP so they can get a good return on Luongo. They can also get rid of his huge salary. There are plenty of NHL GM's who would gladly trade for him.
I would trade him no later than march.

No way the Canucks move him without dealing a substantial package of prospects and picks along with him.

Your really blaming Luongo for the Stanley Cup loss? The Canucks scoring 8 goals in 7 games played a bigger part. (IMO)

(IMO) Well it was not Luongo's fault that the Canucks lost in the Finals, he clearly buckled under the pressure. In fact, the Canucks were lucky to make it past the Blackhawks in the first round. The Sedin twins were not a factor, and the Bruins clearly roughed up the Nucks, which may have been the decisive factor in the series. However, Luongo did not come through when needed. He played mediocre at best in Games 3,4,6, and 7.

Luongo didn't "come through" but for the strongest offence in the league the Canucks were pretty anemic against Boston.

Scheinder / Lack would be a good goalie tandem for the Canucks.
Lou could be traded

Luongo wasn't exactly bad in last year's playoffs, a better word for it is inconsistent. When he played in Florida he was a great goalie but had a crappy team in front of him. He sucked in games 4 and 5 during the First Round. Was good against Nashville and Boston but was awful during the games in Boston in the Finals. In game 7 I thought the 3rd Boston goal should have been stopped and the 2nd one may have been stoppable as well.

I guess its sorta a Joe Thorton situation, the guy can be magic in the regular season and become a ghost in the playoffs, except Joe plays in California and Luo plays in hockey crazy Vancouver. Hey, San Jose is pretty passionate about the Sharks and they know their players. Plus Jumbo Joe is almost a point per game in the playoffs, his play is good but it's not at the star caliber he plays during the season. Luongo is just bad during the playoffs.
