Looked like Gretzky hooked Hawerchuck and Hawerchuck made sure he took Gretzky with him.

I have to be honest:
That DID look like a bit of a cheap shot...
I'm not saying he Bertuzzi-ed him or anything...but still--he was away from the puck, and it looked like a forearm to the head, at least from what I can make out.
But I've never heard Hawerchuck spoken of as a dirty player, so is there some context to this or...what? Because, again, while that's not at all a horrible, wicked thrashing, that doesn't look like a 100% clean and pure check, either. :/

Best part was after the game.Glen Sather was bitching about that play and how #9 was a dirty player, didnt even use Doug Smails name, just said #9.
He was so pissed that he didnt even know it was Ducky and #10-lol

Gretzky would have likely gotten away with it, as he knew how to manipulate the officials. Edmonton was up 3-0 in games, and were about to eliminate the Jets in 4, so Hawerchuk probably thought he had nothing to lose.

I'm sorry...I just don't see the spearing...
And anyway, even if there was one--isn't that what enforcers are for, to be all psuedo-chivalric and defend the honor and health of the stars and duke it out...so said stars don't get hurt, and the game suffers?
I dunno, maybe it's just me and my perception of Gretzky being of a pretty squeaky-clean player...didn't he get a few Lady Bing trophies, after all?

Looks like Gretzkys stick came up and hit Dale in the face, also looks like Waynes head hit the ice pretty hard.
Yup I loved it.
I remember a few years ago when Gretzky coached the Coyotes and they were here for an ex game, crowd gave him a big cheer (sickened me) when they showed him on the scoreboard, then he said Winnipeg did not have copr support to get a team back, following year they came baxck and he was booed, just like the old days
