Nice to see Fleury speaking out about this terrible crime. He may want to tweet Scottie Upshall.
Fleury - Recently I've been going back and forth with Henry Burris on this disgusting Penn State debacle.
I have ONE STAND: if an adult has even the slightest suspicion that a child is being abused IT IS YOUR DUTY AS AN ADULT TO STAND UP FOR THAT CHILD AND DO SOMETHING NOW!
It's simple.
It's not the time for semantics, for second guessing, for looking out for your own interest or your business interest, for your buddy or friend, or for looking the other way. It is the time to contact the authorities and speak up!
A child's life is at stake.
Henry Burris may not be the Calgary Stampeders' starting quarterback any more, but he's still able to get into controversies. The latest one happened Wednesday when Burris tweeted some thoughts on the ongoing Penn State abuse scandal, which has seen former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky facing seven counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, amongst other things. The scandal and the university's apparent inaction on it has already cost the jobs of president Graham Spanier and legendary head coach Joe Paterno, as well as athletic director Tim Curley and university vice-president Gary Schultz (who are facing perjury charges for their alleged roles in covering up the scandal); it's also sparked riots in the streets and opinions from pundits and commentators everywhere. Burris joined those ranks Wednesday with some tweeted opinions, which then led to a discussion between him and former Calgary Flames' star winger Theoren Fleury that you can see at right below, or on this Storify page if you're so inclined.
