I'm not living in Winnipeg now so I may have no reason to complain but sheeeesh, Lawless has to be the dumbest interviewer I've ever heard. His questions are long winded and seem to be designed to show off the fact that he may have some knowledge of the subject and he rarely listens to the person's response. He interrupts anyone he's in a conversation with, has a lot of difficulty thinking during a conversation. I recall recently someone giving him a lengthy response as to what his objectives were for his return to hockey from an injury and when he completed his response, Gary's next question was "what are your goals when you return". Embarrassing really! But I have to rely on 1290 for my Jet information and could only hope there is enough complaints about him to have a change.

^ I'm sure Lawless will love this thread. I noticed he's a member here! Seriously, though, without commenting on this one media personality, it takes time to build up an NHL quality media in any city. An NHL team should attract talent to/within the city and hopefully it improves over time and/or ppl up their game. Just as with TNSE, there was not a lot of lead time for the media when the NHL returned.

As I have mentioned before. I really enjoy Lawless in print and on the radio. Today's article in the Freep about Buff was great. It actualy mirrors some of the things that I have been saying. Everyone has media personalties that they enjoy listening to or reading their materials and others who they do not.
It is nice when you can buy a different paper or tune in a diferent station and still read or listen to Winnipeg Jets talk.
My2 cents

The only time Lawless draws my ire is when he's telling me what to think...ie: he was oppposed to "Jets" name, railed against a white-out (even if I agreed), etc. But he's a columnist and that's what he does, I typically enjoy his writing.

I wasn't referring to his writings, he may well be very good when he's writing. I'm talking about his radio show or TV in-person interviews He doesn't appear to be the sharpest tool in the shed. However, I go way back when Ken Nicholson (Friar) was covering the Jets and there was none better....IMHO

I agree with this. If he reads this, then since he has only been here for a few years I don't want to be told by him that we shouldn't be wanting the Jets name, I don't want him telling us about what it was like when they left, he wasn't a member of our community then, he doesn't know how it felt and he never will. He has been here 6 years, that's all he knows about our city Also, would love for him to take some public speaking courses and would love for him to get his questions out faster, rather than rambling on. I do read his columns and listen to his show, the show could be greatly improved if he would improve
