hey guys,
Me and 2 other guys are together on a 22 game pack (2 seats) which includes the home opener.
We've all selected our games but the one game all three of us want is the home opener.
I know the easy way is to simply draw names from a hat.. but are there any other ways you guys are resolving conflicts in your groups?
Keep in mind.. getting all of us together in one room will be a bit hard and obviously we want to be sure the draw is done fair and square.
Just looking for some ideas.
Also, any season ticket groups willing to give up the home opener for maybe a couple of extra seats at a few more games?

Did all of you put in money for the deposit? If not one way to resolve it is give the opener to the guy who paid the deposit.

My suggestion is to see if you can get one guy to voluntarily drop-out of the opening game.
With the B half season games, you get one Pittsburgh game, a few Washington games, and a Toronto game. Those will likely be *big ticket games* too.
What I suggest is that you guys agree to give up one of your set of tickets to another game to the guy who drops out of the home opener.
So if one guy is going to get two tickets to the home opener, than the other two guys get your tickets to a game of their choosing.
So in this case, you get the home opener, and Partner 1 gets your December 15th Washington tickets, and Partner 2 could pick your December 31 Toronto tickets.
If you and Partner 1 decide to go to the opener together, then Partner 2 could pick a game from each of you.
Basically, in order to get the opener ticket, you have to give up two other high value games.
Since you guys will start out with 7 regular season games each, the guy who watches the opener ends up with 5 games (which includes the opener). The other guys each get 8 games but not including the opener.
If two of you guys go to the opener together, leaving one guy out, then start out with 7 games each, the two guys going to the opener give up one game each leaving them with 6 games each and the other guy gets 9 games.
Do this after you guys pick all your games. I don't know what to do with the exhibition game? Maybe the guy going to the opener gets it? Or give it to charity.
I think if you follow that, you are likely to get one guy volunteer to drop out of the opener. It might be worth it to get two extra games.

I'll pass along the idea to the guys

Book an online poker room. Texas hold 'em. Tourney results determine order of preference.

Yeah, giving up tickets is a good idea. I've also heard people say they will just open it up to the highest bidder for the tickets (within the group) and that whatever money they pay, will go towards next years season tickets.
That way everyone in the group gets to go, and whoever wants to go the most, gets to. This probably only works well if everyone has about the same level of income though.
I have to say, I like Domi's idea, especially if one guy is willing to trade the opener for a few extra games.

Our group ended up doing the draft based on luck of the draw just to keep things simple. We've just also completed a legal agreement that we will each sign outlining things like ownership shares, transfer of ownership rules, regular season ticket selection, playoff ticket selection, selling tickets (and first opportunity for purchase), how to divide season ticket perks, dispute resolution, etc. It was a bit painful to draft this up, especially when kids inheret our rights to the tickets (we are all parents in our group) but I know we will be better for it in the long run if anything ever goes awry...
