There should absolutely be no lights on the perimeter. It totally defeats the purpose. I use the perimeter quite a bit and due to Winnipeg's relatively small size, it's easy to zip around the perimeter and get to places but the lights are moronic.
They have to completely revamp route 90 and remove much of the lights around the Kenaston Common area. Put in ramps and access roads.
They might be wise to eventually extend Sterling Lyon Parkway right to the perimeter also (i know it sort of it as it becomes Wilkes) but if the SOT project happens, it would help with traffic coming from the West and Unicity/St James etc and some of the south too who might take the perimeter rather than Bishop/Kenaston.

That's right. The Elms come first. Elms was nixed wasn't it? (not sure if you were sarcastic there i'll bite =) ) Yeah you bit, Elms is dead...hopefully Seasons of Tuxedo flies. Having Ikea behind it gives some hope it could happen. I'm not sure we as a city need that much more retail but the area is probably pretty ripe for it. I hate driving anywhere around Polo Park, esp. St. James.

Katz was just on CJOB saying he believes there should not be any lights on Bishop Grandin at all. Well then do something about it mr Mayor. The problem with getting rid of the lights on bishop is a lot of places dont have room for interchanges. The city should have built them as they built bishop. Now it will never happen because to build one cost $90-150M each. Just as the city should of built interchanges on Chief Peguis at Henderson, Gateway, and Lagimodere.

I think there is room around Kenaston Commons to add access roads and on/off ramps. similar to Regina's Ring Road. This city just doesnt think like that.
Look at the widening of Route 90. Katz admits that six lanes will only bring Route 90 up to today's needs. So why arent they making it 8 lanes and bring it up to the needs of 5, 10, 20 years from now?

Because it would make too much sense!
