Like many of you, I immediately hated Antropov because the first thing that comes to mind is having to endure watching Leafs games every fricken week . However, when you look at his numbers they aren't all that bad, and the guy is huge (6'6", 240). A quick rundown of the numbers shows: 2010: 16g, 25a in 76 gp 2009: 24g, 43a in 76 gp 2008: 28g, 31a in 81 gp 2007: 26g, 30a in 72 gp 2006: 18g, 15a in 54 gp Granted the guy is a big cap hit at $4,062,500, but he stays pretty healthy and seems to contribute everywhere he has been. So why no love for the big Kaz?

His knees are busted and he's slowing down big time now. Still skilled, but playing him at centre at this point is a no go. He's more likely to produce at the lower range which makes his cap hit rather unacceptably high. Hopefully he produces so he can be dangled at the deadline.

Not sure why we're even talking about the cap hit. The Jets will be a mid cap team at best for the forceable future. His cap hit is not a concern to management. The actual amount of salary they are paying him on the other hand is probably a concern.

If we keep him it's not a concern, however, if they want to move him to stock up on draft picks for example it may make him a harder move (less valuable).

I didn't like him at first, but I believe it stems from watching the Maple Leafs every weekend!
Hoping he has a strong season with the Jets!

I believe the hate is due to the fact he is over paid. I hope that he has a great year and earns that money!

Having watched him plenty when he played for the Leafs he was a frustrating player. He has incredible skill and coupled with his size he could be a force in the NHL. Some games he looked good, others he was just out to skate around and not do much of anything. His cap hit is insane for what he contributes.
I can't see any other team wanting him at his current price so we'll be talking about him for a while.

As far as I am concerned, every player has a clean slate and I look forward to judging each and every player after game one

We'll see what he does with the Jets, he was an over paid floater with the leafs. He is a big guy but won't go into the corners and fight for the puck.

I believe the hate is due to the fact he is over paid. I hope that he has a great year and earns that money! Considering some of the contracts that went out this summer, I think Antropov's contract is very fair if he can get back to 55-60 points.

So why no love for the big Kaz? He played the same amount of games in 2010 as 2009 and had a drop off of 8 goals and 18 assists. Not too mention he has no heart in that huge frame of his. The Leafs have been my favorite team since the Jets left and I couldn't stand watching him and Ponikarovsky.

Something that should also be made clear is that I don't "hate" Antropov. I just don't think he's a part of this club that wins us a Stanley Cup, and thus should be moved out to bring in pieces that we do need to accomplish that goal, whether it be draft picks, prospects, or exchanged for a RW to give us some more depth on the right side.
