Because of our past, the first Jets-Oilers game this season is an event. Our players have no history with them though. Just like their young squad may not even be aware of the history in the 80's. Winnipegers may boo, but on the ice it won't be heated.

This thread is exactly why team names are so important. If it were another team name, people wouldn't be having the conversation about the importance of the first Oilers game etc.

Oilers and Wild will be rivals. I say once December 1st passes we won't care about the Coyotes anymore. They also won't be around so we'd be wasting our time.

If the Jets and Minnesota's NHL team end up in different divisions there's no reason to think they'll be rivals since interestingly despite their proximity the Jets1.0 and the North Stars never had much of a rivalry IIRC.

Which was a stupid move by the league back then in my opinion! Hope they don't repeat that mistake again...

How outrageous it was that Minnesota and Winnipeg weren't always in the same division!
