Last night at the Jets game, a moment of silence was attempted for Cal Murphy. Yes, attempted. It seems people have lost the idea of respect. How hard is to keep quiet for 30 seconds.
I would like to say it was just a couple of jerks but it was a great deal more than a couple. Do these people yell at funerals?
No excuse is acceptable for yelling out during a moment of silence. You are not a fan if you do this. It's not just classless, it shows that something is wrong with you and you need help.
You made the city and Jets fans look bad yesterday.

We even participated in it, at my house. Just don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch, that's all you can do.

Could not agree more. Unfortunately a few jerks can make the whole city look bad.
Three years ago I was in calgary to watch the ducks play the flames. During the US national anthem some jack@$$ shouts "JIGGY HOWS DAD?", Gigueure's father had passed away a month or so ago. I wanted to go knock that guy out so bad.

If anyone within my reach would have done that I would have cracked them one in the mouth. No joke.

It will never stop and I can almost guarantee there are some out there who condone this type behavior, they too lack morals.

Outside of taking matters into your hands (not recommended) as it will surely get you thrown out, the only option is to get security involved.
If these idiots are pointed out to security we can only hope they'd get thrown out.
I had my first chance to sit up in section 312 last night. Vast majority of the moronic cat calls seemed to be coming from the opposite side of the rink from me. Everyone within 5 - 6 sections on either side of me were pretty quiet.

That's right up there with Roberto Alomar spitting in that umps face and taunting him about his sick/dying child. Still can't believe Alomar got in the hall of fame.

Let me start off by saying yes those guys are jackasses and no I don't condone what they did, but this is hardly a Winnipeg thing. During any moment of silence at a sporting event, some drunk is going to yell. If we're going to start a new thread every time it happens, we may need a new subsection on here.

This will be moved to OT soon but we'll let it get some exposure here for today. I don't think this lack of class is strictly a Winnipeg thing by any means but I'd love to see these jackasses get thrown out. Probably the same ones who made Steve Earle's last visit here so miserable.

I thought the same thing for a moment but the reality is, anytime you have that many people assembled publicly, it will happen. Factor in the adrenalin of the start of a Jets game and the alcohol and in retrospect, I thought it was very respectful how the vast majority went from screaming wildly to silence in one second.

heres a simple solution, broadcast it over the PA system that if anyone makes stupid comments or yells during the moment of silence they were be ejected by security. simple as that now theres obviously some things that wont get u kicked out like if ur cell phone happens to ring you had no control over that or if you sneeze or cough but other then that if you yell something stupid you are gone that should be said before every moment of silence. all it would take is one jack ass being thrown out and everyone would shut the hell up

If a person can't understand that a moment of silence requires you to be silent well then maybe there parents should have used a condom.

This sort of thing happens in all buildings.
Unfortunately, we live in a "me first" society.
There are a lot of people out there who are desperate for attention.
Just have security remove them.

I was at the game yesterday and I didn't feel the moment of silence was that bad. You always get a few idiots that speak up, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. The one jackass that stood out to me was the guy that yelled "HEJDUK".
