Couple moves to shake up the IceCaps roster.
First, they loaned G Peter Mannino and F Kendall McArdle to Portland. The Pirates then loaned the Caps F Brock Trotter.
Then, they loaned F Michael Forney to Texas and dealt F Shawn Weller to the same Stars for F Raymand Sawada, a former Manitoba Moose.
Craziness!!

I was disappointed to lose Weller and McArdle. Mannino was useless (Aeb and Eddie are miles better) and Forney was spending most of his time with the Eagles.
Don't know much about Sawada, but I recall Trotter being fairly good.

First game with the new roster is a 6-4 loss to Syracuse in which Dan Sexton recorded a hat trick. Gahh.

McCardle is working his way out of the organization.

McCardle was a waste of a signing

McCardle was a waste of a signing wasn't signed - traded for Angelo Esposito, a player who was once thought of as a potential top 5 pick yet...sucks.

I hope some of these moves the ice caps are making bringing in veteran AHL guys for the playoffs won't hinder the development of our young guys, they need playoff experience as well.I worry that Hesinger is hell bent on winning a calder championship.I understand they want to create a winning atmosphere but as long as it is not at the expense of the development of our young guys who actually have a shot of making the NHL.I guess we will see,I know the Canucks disagreed at times on how the Moose wanted to run the team.

Sawada has so far made IceCaps fans forget Shawn Weller.
Trotter, however, is injured.

You dont have to worry about this organisation developing NHL talent, when they ran the moose they were considered one of the best farm teams in the league based on the NHL talent that came through and was developed with the moose. AHL playoff experience will help develop young guys and to go anywere in the playoffs you need a few AHL vets to lead the team.
