Yeah. This team is far from being improved from last year..... usually when you see how close you were to winning it all, you wanna ADD the missing pieces.... not remove some of the key components that got you there (Greg Carr, Labatt, and now Willis (and for Canadian draft picks... which is not worth a whole lot lol, especially later rounds)). But then again, it's the CFL.....

They still have a bunch of really good D linemen. Willis was becoming a cancer (eg: his Twitter fiasco during Grey Cup week). The whole Swaggerville thing was getting kinda lame - especially when the Bombers were dropping games near the end of the season. According to the article, he wanted out, so, what is management to do?

At least we have our stellar coach / play-caller wrapped up for another 3 seasons...

But then again, it's the CFL..... Are you crazy? Canadian picks are the prize of the CFL. American players are a dime a dozen. its the Canadians that put you over the top. Labatt chose not to come back here because of family reasons. There was nothing the Bombers could do (save offering him well above anyone else). Carr agreed to a contract with the Bombers (his agent announced it) and then renegged for $10,000 or $20,000 more). If you read the story, Mack makes it clear Willis did not want to be here. He's a free agent after this season. He was great at the pass rush but his play trailed off as the year progressed. He was not good against the rush and his attitude left a lot to be desired. He was essentially replaced by seasons end We have a lot of depth at the position. We got a first round pick and other picks for a disgruntled American who wasnt even starting at seasons end for us who doesnt want to be here and is a free agent this year. And you think we lost this trade? Funny, Rider fans are sure they lost it too.

Unknown hit the nail on the head
Nothing we could do to keep Labbat in fact they offered him some heavy money but for family reasons he had to go to Sask.
Carr was tough, we had him locked up and then Edmonton swoops in with a sweeter deal. But American recievers are dime a dozen.
Willis was also a sticky situation but according to rumours he was a locker room cancer. Not to mention he sometimes takes really stupid penalties.
Add all that to Brown retiring it might be a tough year but its the CFL things can change real fast

At the DE or DL spots we still have Kashama, Vega, Turner, Mainor, Smith and Fritz. They are all very strong.
At receiver we can replace Carr with Poblah. He barely played due to injury but was very good in the time he played. Plus, he's Canadian!
The one iffy spot is OL. The loss of Labatte hurt the most. Let's hope they adjust without him.

The one tricky thing with draft picks is because of the CIS's age regulations (or lack of) I think draft picks tend to be way too hit and miss and odds are a lot of talented players end of getting over looked.

Wow, all this happening, and we still go into another pre-season without a QB.
The Jets came back at the perfect time!

The only one that really hurts is Labatte. American receivers are a dime a dozen and we've got Bryant f'n Turner ready to step in. The man's a beast. Eats school buses for breakfast and craps fighter jets.
