What do you guys think the chances are of a work stopage this upcoming year? Do we loose just a few games, half the season, or the another season lost to labor strife?
Personally I belive that there will be a work stoppage but only during training camp and we wont loose any Regular season games.

Donald Fehr was involved in cancelling the World Series.
Bettman and the NHL Board of Govenors were willing to lose the entire 2004-05 season.
The NHL wants the players to accept 50% of revenues like NBA & NFL.
The NHL has cancelled the games in Europe and various rookie tournaments.
I predict we will lose at least half the season.
My only hope is the players realise that if the season is lost, that is income that cannot be regained.
I hope I'm wrong.

Its not looking pretty, if there is a lockout it will not only punish the fans, but could be disasterous for several teams in the NHL. Dallas, florida (both teams in the state) Columbus, and NJ just to name a few are gonna be pushed into even further financial strive. The NHL needs to avoid a lockout by any means.

Apparently real talks between the league and PA arnt going to start until after July 1st, and most hockey experts are predicting a season start of Dec 1st. The league has already sent a letter to the PA that states they will be locking the players out in september if no deal is reached and it really doesnt look good.

That is actually incorrect, teams like Dallas, Florida and New Jersey are the teams that are pushing for a lockout, many of them are wanting a bigger percentage from the players and would actually lose less money if there was a season long lockout than if they played the entire season.

I think this is very much a game of Chicken between the NHLPA nd NHL. Fehr Scares me, but in the end this is the players choice. I personally think that the NHLPA got Fehr just for his "Fehr Factor", a strong personality in negotiations. There are still lots of players who are around from the last work stoppage, and I do belive it left a very negative impresion. Most of the players (all of whom get a vote where it be All Star or 4th liner) only play maybe 2 or 3 years in the NHL. I have alot of doubt that a 3rd or 4th liner would be in favor of loosing an entire season, when he might only play 2 or 3 years in his entire career.

I hope there isn't another stoppage but I think the season will start back up in the beginning of November.

If there is a lockout and it goes past the winter classic, there will not be a season this year. The league does not want to lose the winter classic in front of 100,000 fans in detroit and if they do, they will make the players pay big.

If a lockout only helps Quebec's chances in getting a team, it doesn't phaze me too much... however, with the renewal of ESPN's contract to start broadcasting games over here again, I'm all for no lockout.
