I graduated from college, but I cannot find a job in my prospective field for the last month, so a couple of weeks ago I started applying anywhere I could. Friday at an interview, I was actually told I was "overqualified" for the job! I've never been told that in my life. I think I will just leave off my education experience on my resume.

I noticed the local Subway had a sign out saying they were hiring for all positions. I asked how I got about applying for President and CEO.
Apparently, their sign was lying.

As someone who came back to Winnipeg with the specific goal of finding a job in my dream field (and having it work out very well), I will offer the following advice that worked well:
-take additional courses/education related to your field...employers like the motivation and desire -talk to recruiters-even if they can't find you a job right away they have way more contacts than you do -join a professional association if possible -volunteer in something related to what you want to do
Really, finding a job is about marketing. You need to make the product (yourself) better. Keep improving yourself and keep looking and it will come.

I wish there was a job doing this stuff (following sports forums/news). That would be a sweet summer job. As a teacher, this is all I do all summer during the day besides golf and yard work.

PM me if you need a job. I am moving to Alberta and want to find a replacement for my employer. It's easy work. Consists of picking up and delivering food to various schools in Winnipeg.
