Can he be assigned to the AHL for his 9 game tryout?

I'm encouraged with Mark's progression but still have some concerns. He seems to take "breaks" during his shifts instead of a constant effort. That will hurt him if he tries to make it to the big club. However the new edge he brought to game 4 was a pleasant surprise. Overall some good improvement but he needs to get his legs moving more often and faster.

Can he be assigned to the AHL for his 9 game tryout? The 9 games are NHL and he's used 8

^ I thought it was 9 games per season.

^ I thought it was 9 games per season. The CBA allowed for a player to play 9 games in a season without burning a year off of their Entry-level contract. Once they play 10 it counts as a year on their ELC. Playing the 10 games doesn't bring them closer to becoming a UFA, however, as that requires seasons accrued, which is 40 I believe.

^ So it is a total of 10 games not 9 per season then?

with a likely late start to the season, it makes it that much harder for Scheif to make the Jets next year. And I don't think he's ready anyway. A healthy scratch with the Caps in the A playoffs and has not been consistently one of the better players either at the world jrs or the Russia challenge. No need to rush this.

I don't think Scheifele will ever be a regular in the NHL. He reminds me of Nathan Smith. A first round pick, similar style and stats about the same size with very average skating abilities. He doesn't have the scoring ability for the first or second line and he doesn't check well enough for the third or fourth. He's a career AHLer. He hasn't impressed in the international tournaments he's played in or with the Icecaps. A wasted first round pick. I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see him making it.

^ I'm hoping he'll be a top playmaking centre, he has the potiential and work ethic to become one, time will tell I guess.
