Flood wasn't going to go down to the AHL after being in Winnipeg all year and we had no room. Once players reach his age and they haven't had any significant time in the big leagues they have to start looking for places that offer them the most money so that they have enough money for the future when they retire. I read online the Brett Festerling might possibly be going to Europe as well.

I guess Randy Jones will be next... I still put Flood ahead of Jones, no doubt. To be honest, Clitsome might not be better than Flood either.

I guess Randy Jones will be next... Are you saying Randy Jones will be the next to go to europe or the next to leave the jets, becasue the team said on July 1st that they were not offering a contract to Jones.

^this makes me wonder if kulda, flood, now festerling are only leaving because they had such solid years, now they're potential will be better served. Our depth has taken a huge blow. They no longer wanted to be depth players; is this really out of chevy's hands.

To go to Europe since he's obviously not good enough to get a contract offer from any other NHL team...similar to Flood it seems.

Wow, Julda, Flood and Festerling? Depth hit hurts, but at the same time.... these were not going to be impact guys for the team, Redmond looks like this year's frequent flyer, and both Postma and Clitsome figure to see significant ice. Time to start breaking in the next wave with guys like Redmond, O'Neill, Yuen, Melchiori, etc... (Trouba a few yrs behind)

I just wanted to confirm that Festerling playing in Germany actually means he has left the organization? Could he not continue development in Germany, then head back to the AHL and NHL? I thought some players do that?
What is the latest on Machacek? Has he re-signed yet? Did I miss that one?

I'm not sure if I ever considered Flood to be a fringe player (though I think I know what you mean.) I guess Chevy didn't rate him high enough, that's all. Not sure how he could be anymore fringe. He's turning 28 and has played a grand total of 39 NHL games.

Id be willing to bet flood could have signed in the NHL, but he would most likley be making undet 700k or even have to be on a 2 way deal. Why would you do that when you could sign in Russia for 1 million+ and play as atop 4 defenceman.
