My feeling is if the Winter Classic is cancelled then the season is lost.
The owners will get what they want in the end.
If the rumors of expansion by two Canadian teams is true, the expansion fees will recoup some of the loss and generate interest when they finally start playing again.

Looks like the fans aren't hopefull..... This is all based on how the two sides have been doing in terms of the collective bargaining process - which stands as not very good. Its been nearly a month since they LAST talked about the "core economic issues." What does that tell ya?

It's simple extrapolation. If we graph progress over time on a graph, with progress being our "Y" axis, we see the following: In this instance we see a graphic representation of a generic NHL fan. Given this trajectory, one would be remiss to believe that a trend reversal is in the immediate future. BTW, that last downturn came around the moment Mr. Fehr discussed the players' displeasure with a salary cap. m.

I'd prefer them to take a year off, iron this Crap out for good and then come back next year. I don't want a shortened season or a season with an "*" next to the Stanley Cup Champions.

I know everyone says 50/50, but I'm going to take it one step farther. Bettman should say 50/50, final offer, you have 2 weeks to decide, if its a no, then the season is over and owners will begin booking other events.
I don't want season over, but players have not budged one bit. Risky play but I like to take risks. I think this would be a good gamble.

The players aren't going to win this one. Get comfy; it's going to be a long ride.

Extreme but it might put some pressure on the NHLPA to get on with it. What they are doing right now is not working. The NHL is the bottom feeder when it comes to the 4 major sports leagues in North America, yet they have the most labor strife. As for expansion, great, but there are too many teams losing money as it is, why not just relocate the struggling franchises instead. This league is just desperate for money.

We are going to get half of a season. The New Jersey Devils are already reviewing old game film in preparation for this scenario.

This season is done and I think the owners win in the end.
