Not sure, but Joe Mack started the demolition process early during the last CFL off-season starting with the Blue Bomber roster...

I'm pretty sure I heard it's coming down the old fashioned way, No Big boom. First the seats and everything salvageable will be removed for sale. Once the new stadium is ready (yesssssss ready) the Bombers offices will move to the new location and the site turned over to the new owners. Demolition is to be in late winter/early spring.

They half to sell everything that they can remove. How do you think they will make their next payment on the new building, wouldn't look good to default on the loan before they had a chance to play in it. ;D

Some sports facilities age like a fine wine - lovingly maintained and renovated over the years. Wrigley Field and Fenway Park and Lambeau Field, and even the Montreal Alouettes Percival Molson Stadium (which opened in 1919(!)) immediately come to mind.. Other sports stadiums... age like the cheapest swill you can imagine. Neglected and left to fall apart, rust, and decay. Owned and operated by an uncaring, aloof, indifferent sports franchise. A free $10.00 giftcard to Applebee's to the first person who can guess where Canad Inns Stadium factors in!

I guess the "Big Owe" in Montreal, Taylor Field in Regina, Empire Field in Vancouver, and Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton all fall into the same category because they were all replaced, or are going to be replaced. You could also say the same thing about old Yankee Stadium and at least half of the old NHL arenas. If you bash the Bombers for this, then you are bashing most other sports franchises, as well.

With the exception of Empire Field (which was built strictly as a temp. facility), they absolutely do fall into the same category as Canad Inns. You're right.
What worries me (well... it doesn't really worry me nearly as much as it SHOULD worry Blue Bombers supporters) is that the same exact people who "cleaned and maintained" Canad Inns Stadium over the years (meaning the Blue Bombers) are the ones who will be in charge of maintaining Investors Group Field.
Makes you a little nervous, yes/no?

Makes you a little nervous, yes/no? Empire was not built as a temporary stadium. It is the former home of the Lions before BC Place was built. Granted, yes, it was renovated so the Lions had a home until BC Place was renovated. I know it's another topic, but I live in Vancouver and the fact that $500 million of the taxpayers' money was put into this didn't sit too well with the locals. How much is the cost for the new stadium in Winnipeg? As for those who will be cleaning and maintaining the new stadium, I don't think you can really compare it to a stadium that has been around since 1953. I'm sure the people who maintained it were different from those who maintained it in the past few years. I've never heard from anyone that Canad Inns Stadium is a dive. The last time I was there was 1994, so I can't remember what it was like. Also, I don't really blame management for not putting 100% into maintenance for a stadium that is going to crumble. When was the last time you were there? Also, was it really that bad?

It is much more common to replace Hallowed Gound with something new and shinny than renovate. Yes there are examples. Fennway Park, and Lameau are a few. However there are far more examples of moving forward with something new. Montreal Forum- Gone Chicago Stadium - Gone Maple Leaf Gardens - Gone Yankee Stadium - Gone Tiger Stadium - Gone Wembley Stadium - Gone Shea Stadium- Gone
