Now that pretty much nobody can deny the CMHR is a complete failure, what should we do with it? My choice is to re-designate it into a Canada Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, or even a new City Hall. After reading this article in the Winnipeg Free Press, I think it's about time the Feds nixed this ill-conceived museum, and diverted the annual $20-25 million in operating costs to something that can really benefit this city. Today's article; www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/new-year-brings-new-departures-at-cmhr-185513602.html

Ok Ummmmm I have a few questions. 1)Despite not being open yet how is the museum already a failure? 2) How exactly does that link (which leads to a Wpg Free Press Profile) prove anything. 3) Why don't we tear down the other massively subsidized projects (the new bomber stadium maybe?)

Maybe we can get a discount if we have the bomber stadium and museum torn down since NOBODY can deny both have been absolute failures (despite any legit proof). Just some food for thought.

It's even starting to seep out to Alberta what a joke our new "museum" is. 3. Please point out where I said anything about tearing it down (besides a poll option). I think the building itself, is fine. It just needs a good tenant.

That link leads to a profile used to comment on free press stories....Fox news would be a more accurate source (and that's saying something).

Well I arbritrarly decided that despite not even being Open yet the stadium is a failure and something needs to be done about it. See what I did there?

Boy do we need the Jets playing, when the hottest topic on the board is the CMHR.
I think any further costs should be assumed by the Aspers

For one thing 2 of the significant employees who stepped down were INTERIM employees. So what your saying is despite the Aspers fundraising supposedly almost $150 million for the project, despite the museum not even being open, because of some personel turn over the museum is already a failure and needs to be fixed? You might have a hard time selling that to certain people who donated good chunks of money towards that project. On a side note if the Bombers actually repay that entire 95 million dollar loan on time (or at least at all) then I think its fair to put Asper on the hook for the run offs, otherwise I dont see why he shouldnt be entiteled to all the same breaks big corporations love.

From what I can see from the outside and being ideally located, it's got the makings for one amazing water park!

Is that actually the best argument you can come up with? As I understand the Asper's goal was to hit $150 million but they fell short at $130 mill, not bad considering that accounts for almost half of the museums funding. If you believe there is some shady book keeping and that the tax payers are being secretly screwed out of a hundred million dollars or so (as opposed to publicly like the stadium scenario) then I implore you to do some digging and give your argument some actual validity (something you desperately need I might add). How about we wait till the museum has been open for a few years and weigh the benefits vs the costs then? I've never thought Katz was the greatest mayor but reading some of your posts I feel blessed to have him at the helms. I'll make you a deal, if in 5 years the CMHR hasnt been a success I'll start a petition to make it into a popsicle stand and take you out for a beer?
