The issue here is, if you dont like it, so what? There should be two sides: 1) like it. 2) dont care because "ending it" is silly. It doesnt impact Canada in a negative way so if you dont care about the Monarch, so what?

How is it silly its a legitimate argument. We are a democracy and our Head of State should represent that by having an elected individual as the Head of State, and that elected official should be Canadian. People complain about not having a sense of identity and then refuse to accept the changes necessary to have one.

I really dont think it would impact everyday life, ive never once heard somebody complain about it taking away from canadian pride or self identity.

^ Try bringing it up in conversation, see how people feel when they actually start thinking about it. Most Canadians mistake the Prime Minister for the Head of State, so of course they don't understand the movement for change.

Ugh so stupid. How does having the queen as head of state impact your life? And how would it impact your life to have an "elected official" hold that position? Why would we waste time and money in having Canadians vote for a ceremonial position? Canadians don't vote now. Why would they vote for someone that doesn't matter?
If you don't like the monarch so be it. But it doesn't impact your life so let the rest of us enjoy our legacy and heritage. Not every nation needs to become sovereign with bloodshed and violence.

They think this because effectively the Prime Minister is the head of state. And as Unknown Poster said, people don't vote as it is I highly doubt a ceremonial position is going to really ramp up voter turnout and "the Canadian Identity"

People think the Prime Minister is head of state because they dont know what Head of State means nor do they have a knowledge or appreciation of Canadian history. When I was in school, US history was attended more than Canadian history (I took both). Canadian history should be a required course from Grade 1 - Grade 12.
Ditching the Monarch would do nothing for educating Canadians to our history. We took a very different route to independance than the US did and I think that deserves to be celebrated. And that means keeping our ceremonial connection to the Queen.

Yes some prefer to bend over and let Britain do what they want

Because it's really just ceremonial at this point, it's not worth changing if your on the fence about it.
