Really, this is thread worthy?
Do you know how many football players get in serious criminal trouble every year.
A ticket for pot possesion is nothing compared to the guys in the NFL.

My daughters don't know how I feel but after watching alcoholism destroy my best friends life, I'd rather catch my daughters with a few grams of pot, then a Mickey of vodka, at 15 or 16. Not to say pot is harmless, but it's the lesser of two evils by a long long long shot.

Of course it's thread worthy... What if Evander Kane got busted for pot possession??? This forum, twitter and the works would be sounding off! I'm assuming this would be a suspendable offense by the league, which in a sport that plays less than 20 games a season, any games missed by an impact player hurts.
Not to mention its just more negative attention to this team struggling to find positive's other than a new stadium.

Grumps is right. Pot is less harmful then alcohol. It's time to make it legal. Think of the money saved from ppl spending time in jail for pot related offensives. You wouldn't think there is a ton but ppl on parole that get caught with pot get sent back to jail. Also the gov't could tax it. PS I am not a pot head.

Not to say pot is harmless, but it's the lesser of two evils by a long long long shot. I'm not sure I would agree with that but to each his own. Addiction is more the problem than anything, I wouldn't want a kid of mine to be addicted to either drugs or alcohol. Read this link if you like, I find it's a fairly good summary of the risks of pot use: www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/marijuanaI don't think anyone is going to argue it's the worst drug in the world, but it's still a drug, and I can't help but laugh at the people who make it sound like it's harmless. Should it be legalized? I don't honestly know for sure, although my gut still says no. I used to be staunchly against it, I've still never tried it personally but I will say this, the current system doesn't make much sense. I think society needs to decide if it wants to allow people to use it or not. If so, legalize it. But if not, the only way to have any real chance of stopping it's widespread use to to crack down on the end users. I don't really understand why people think it makes sense to have a "war on drugs" and try to stop the gangs from selling it, but we essentially think it's okay for people to have drugs for personal use. As long as people are buying the stuff, obviously gangs and all that comes with them are going to be there. Because without sounding preachy (I'm really far from a radical) realistically anyone who is buying drugs from a dealer, is directly contributing to street gangs and drug cartels. As far as this goes as a story though, I think it's a story because obviously he's a role model to kids, but more importantly it may have been the "last straw" and an easy excuse for the Bombers to cut a guy they already don't like the attitude of. Obviously they still feel he helps the team, but I thought for a minute they might use this as an excuse to cut him.

Really, this is thread worthy? Now if a potential owners of the Phoenix Coyotes were to be caught smoking, then hey, that's worth at least 1,000 pgs of posts, right? I think its too late to make judgements on what's thread worthy on this forum and what's not! That ship has sailed!

The bombers have said they are not going to do anything right now, and the league wont give a Crap about 6 grams of pot in S.C in the offseason. There wont be a suspension.

Pot may not be harmless, but in my opinion it's far less dangerous than Alcohol, and he wasn't smoking it while he was driving, it was in the car.
And if Kane was caught doing it, sure this forum would blow up and twitter would too, but my opinion of Kane has changed over the last couple of years, and right now I would not be one of the people to attack him.
If you are going to legalize Alcohol and Cigarettes, both of which can cause serious health problems like liver failure and cancer, then the government should legalize and tax the Crap out of pot too.

I always figured that pro athletes cared about what they put into their bodies. I'm not a pro athlete, so what do I know.

If alcohol and cigarettes were illegal right now I think it would be hard to justify legalizing them and not pot, but I guess the question is why would we want to legalize more harmful drugs? Anyways, like I say it does seem like anything but the status quo would be better. Either legalization and tax the crap out of it. Or my preference which would be to keep it illegal but go after the everyday users. Just give big fines similiar to speeding tickets. It doesn't have to be jail, but no one can afford to pay constant speeding tickets so similiar fines for illegal drug use seem like a much more sensible answer than jail time.
