Will there be more βHockey Fansβ in Arizona 10-15 years down the road from where Arizona is at right now with fans? 2b9πππ Sure with a properly located arena. This failure is the fault of Bettman and his impulsiveness. I get growing the game and many sunbelts have worked but you got to do it right. In the case of Phoenix Mistake 1 was playing at the Suns arena that was a horseshoe and not built for hockey Mistake 2 was going to Glendale which was way way away from the majority of population and $$$$. Mistake 3 would be coming back to the arena in the area the current owner wants to build it. The other mistakes were having nothing but jokes for owners. You need someone like the suns owner in a downtown Phoenix arena otherwise forget it. Yep, I agree with you on everythingπ. Cheers, 2b9πππ

The Delta Center for hockey. Capacity is only 14,000 basketball the outside It really does look kind of aged/dated compare to other NBA arenas so I don't mind a replacement.

John Gambadoro @gambo987 Β· Follow Meruelo agreed to sell the team after he secured a contractual right to reactivate the franchise within 5 years of the date of the agreement and trigger an expansion draft if an arena is built- this would require him to pay back the $1 billion that he is getting from the sale.

We will see how that goes, apparently the NHL has placed several benchmarks that need to be achieved in order for this to happen. 2b9πππ

Sources: Coyotes players told team is relocating to UtahArizona Coyotes players were informed Friday that the team is relocating to Utah, sources told ESPN, confirming a report by PHNX Sports. Coyotes general manager Bill Armstrong met with the players ahead of their game against the Edmonton Oilers to confirm what had been rumored all week: t hat the NHL is working to facilitate a sale to Ryan and Ashley Smith, owners of the Utah Jazz. The Coyotes will begin playing there next season. The NHL and Smith's group have been working on a deal, but sources told ESPN on Friday night that nothing was done yet, and there was plenty of work to do before the deal was finalized. An announcement is expected next week, at the conclusion of the NHL regular season, sources told ESPN. Coyotes players and staff members will be invited to visit Salt Lake City after their season finale to check out the city and facilities.Coyotes players were not available following Friday night's 3-2 overtime win over Edmonton and coach Andre Tourigny said he would only take questions about the game. "This team has been through a lot of adversity," Tourigny said. "The first time the rumor came around, we didn't manage it well and we shoot ourselves in the foot, went on a 14-game losing streak. Our guys are showing how proud they are, how much they care for each other and how much they want to have success with each other. It's cool to feel that, cool to see them cheering each other and pushing in the same direction like that." T he plan is for the team to play at the Delta Center, which is owned by Smith and is also home to the NBA's Jazz. However, sources told ESPN that the NHL has made clear to the Smiths that a hockey-specific upgrade is needed at the Delta Center in order to become the team's permanent home.
Smith already has government support. A bill was passed in the Utah State Senate to help fund a renovated entertainment district downtown in anticipation of an NHL franchise. The bill already has approval from Utah Gov. Spencer Cox.Coyotes owner Alex Meruelo has been on a years-long quest to find a permanent home for his club, which has been temporarily playing its home games at Arizona State's Mullett Arena. Meruelo has eyed a plot in the Phoenix area and intends to win a state-run land auction for it on June 27. However, according to sources, the NHL grew skeptical of the timeline and decided it needed a better solution for next season. T he NHL is interested in returning to Arizona in the future and will leave the door open to Meruelo to own the team. www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/39931044/arizona-coyotes-players-informed-team-relocation-utah Iβm wondering how the Arizona Players are feeling and how they are taking this, the move to Utah and leaving Arizona? 2b9πππ

I do think he wants to get this done but the question is can he pull it off? Most of the Coyote fans really hate him. I just don't see the point of having a 3rd arena with such a shady owner. The goal should be to come back to Phoenix right not the fastest. They should give it a rest for 10-15 years and have the suns owner bring them back with a shared downtown arena not this half @ss plan. The suns owner has big $$$. I just saw today he gave Greyson Allen a 4yr $70M extension that pays him $15M the 1st year that with luxury tax penalties comes out to $79M dollars. That's the type of big $$$ owner you need.

It's a great fan base so that's great but the arena is blah and was probably built 1 to 2 years too soon to be considered modern. The United Center, Boston and Cleveland's arenas are the 1st modern NBA arenas.
The most famous moment in NBA history did take place here on the left hand side. Michael Jordan made his final shot in a bulls uniform to give the Bulls their 6th NBA title giving the Bulls a 1 pt win.
