I think Thunder Bay is inevitable. The main reason that you're hearing muted conversation about it now is that the team isn't even in Winnipeg yet; TN sure doesn't want talk about it leaving before it gets here. There are two reasons for Thunder Bay you are a one hour flight to Winnipeg, and secondly and more importantly you are a one hour flight away from Toronto, from there you can get to any other NHL city quickly or direct!

Well I guess Thunder Bay is out of contention. Judging from the comments, it looks like most people in Thunder Ba didn't want the new arena to begin with. I know Saskatoon just signed a lease with the WHL Blades, so that's not an option. What other cities would be willing to host our AHL team? Fargo? Omaha? Des Moines? Green Bay? Kansas City? Duluth?

I guess the AHL will be here for a while. As long as they can draw 5,000 in the long term it would be nice to have the team and prospects here

I just love Thunder Bay. It's full of old people who refuse to give a crap about the future for their children and grandchildren. What a joke!
What kind of Government will allow money for only a convention center not an arena slash convention center??? So it's ok to give money to something that only gets used a hand full of dates versus something that gets used year round. Yup that's our government for us!!!

^ Time will tell, TNSE has invested a lot of time and money into TB they might not be willing to go down without a fight.

^ Time will tell, TNSE has invested a lot of time and money into TB they might not be willing to go down without a fight. this isnt about TNSE. the city of thunder bay cannot get the funding from the federal government. there is no fight. the ONLY way this will work is if the city puts up the money, or some really nice rich man from toronto fronts the cash.

^ Time will tell, TNSE has invested a lot of time and money into TB they might not be willing to go down without a fight. Thunder Bay is dead. True North waited for four years. They'll try and make it work in WInnipeg for the long term and if at some point it's not working then they'll look elsewhere.

It's not about true North, maybe look into the design team and some of the players before you say that. They got Gary to say all the right stuff on TV.
