Maple Leafs' 13-year sellout streak ends Monday vs. WildThe Toronto Maple Leafs finally felt the financial consequences of their poor on-ice performance Monday against the Minnesota Wild. The Maple Leafs announced an attendance of 18,366 at Air Canada Centre for Monday's contest, marking the first time in 13 years the franchise has failed to sell out a home game. Toronto entered Monday with a 6-26-3 record in 2015, including a 5-7-1 mark at home. The Maple Leafs have one playoff appearance and no postseason series victories since 2004. www.thescore.com/news/729216

Leafs offering half-price game ticketsWho needs a ticket? Lately for the Maple Leafs, perhaps not as many as the struggling National Hockey League team would like. Once the toughest ticket in town — and among the most elusive in the NHL — getting into the Air Canada Centre to see the Leafs may be as easy as it has ever been. Monday’s game against the Minnesota Wild had an announced crowd of 18,366 making it below the building’s hockey capacity of 18,819 and thus a non-sellout. Even worse, according to Sportnet.ca’s Chris Johnston, Monday’s attendance was the lowest the Leafs have reported in their 16-year history at the ACC. The less than full-house was the first non-sellout since the Oct. 14 date earlier this season against the Colorado Avalanche (18,754.)Less than an hour before the scheduled puck drop of Monday’s game, hundreds of tickets remained for sale on the team’s official website, and many of those at a deep discount. There were almost entire rows available in the upper reaches of the 300 level and deals were to be had for those looking for a single — a 50% sale price trumpeted by the team’s official Twitter feed in mid-afternoon.The team regularly sells single seats at a reduced cost if there is a glut of them available on game day, but over the past couple of weeks large chunks have been available as well. The apparent indifference from the ticket-buying public — for decades an unheard of thought here — is matching the team’s struggles on the ice and the lack of enthusiasm many veteran players have shown. The previous non-sellout for a Leafs game at the ACC was in October 2002 when the Atlanta Thrashers were in town (18,727.)Scalpers are feeling the pinch as well — with discounted seats available on the streets surrounding the ACC on Monday — and on ticket re-seller StubHub a pair could have been purchased for $29 hours before game time.It seems the season can’t end soon enough for the Leafs. The team was shuffled off of CBC on Saturday night for the first time in 42 years, with the game airing on Rogers Sportsnet. www.torontosun.com/2015/03/23/leafs-offering-half-price-game-tickets
