Prudential Center and the New Jersey Devils announced today that Adam Davis has been named the company’s first chief revenue officer (CRO). Davis had served as executive vice president of corporate sponsorship since his arrival in Newark in February 2014.
Over the past year, the franchise says that Davis “overhauled the corporate partnership group with more than a dozen new positions and a focus on premium services. Under his guidance, the team recorded more than a 200-percent increase in revenue and generated 11 new partnerships, including category-first deals for the business with luxury brands Raymond Weil and Infiniti, as well as Pepsi, Budweiser, PWC and SmashBurger.”
Gracie Mercado, who joined the company as vice president of human resources in January 2014, has been named senior vice president, business operations. In her previous position, Mercado led the company’s rapid personnel expansion with over 100 new hires in the past year.
IThe Devils say that Davis will oversee all of the arena and team’s revenue streams, including ticket sales, ticket operations, premium, premium services, corporate partnerships and corporate partnership services, while Mercado will drive the strategy and execution of business initiatives across the organization.
Prudential Center officials say that in the past year there were a record 32 sold-out shows, a new attendance record for a single performance (George Strait), new building marks for gross revenue for multiple annual events (Harlem Globetrotters and Circus), and new arena records for gross revenue and attendance for a family show series (Frozen). Prudential Center was also recognized as a Top 10 arena nationally by Pollstar, Billboard and Venue’s Today.
The Devils say their full season ticket sales were the highest in more than a decade and the team sold the 7th most full season tickets in the NHL – remarkable numbers given the frankly mediocre product of the past couple of years, without even a lion-in-winter Martin Brodeur in goal anymore.
The Devils note that they were the first U.S.-based team in the NHL to invest in a permanent 3D projection system, they created the world’s first “farm-to-fan food experience for an arena,” and were the first NHL team to partner with Ritz-Carlton to educate staff members in fan engagement.
