The power ring is also under the press box where the fuelled by passion sign was and also above the Zamboni entrance.

MTS Centre in Winnipeg unveils new scoreboard, seatsThe home of the Winnipeg Jets is now brighter and bigger. MTS Centre underwent a $12-million face-lift this summer which includes a new scoreboard, LED display screens, a new audio/video control room and new loge seating. Renovations were also done to the 55 suites. Crews added 278 seats to the upper concourse in the form of “mini private boxes”. The loge seating increases MTS Centre’s capacity to 15,294. The centre ice scoreboard was replaced with an HD model that is more than two times bigger than the old one. LED screens were also added underneath the press box and above the zamboni entrance. Powering it all is a new state-of-the-art audio/video control room. The renovations were done while also maintaining a full calendar of events. The enhancements are part of True North 2020, a $30-million plan by True North Sports & Entertainment, the owner of MTS Centre, to upgrade the downtown arena. globalnews.ca/news/2226201/winnipegs-mts-centre-unveils-new-scoreboard-seats/

More details MTS Centre makeover 77 Spiffy new scoreboard, new ‘loge’ seating unveiledWhen it comes to off-season changes, most of the attention naturally falls to the Winnipeg Jets’ on-ice product. But the Jets have been banging away at some changes around the rink as well. True North Sports and Entertainment put $12 million into off-season upgrades and renovations at MTS Centre, adding 278 premium loge seats and a spiffy new scoreboard, which were revealed to media on Wednesday night. Loge seating was added in front of the 300-level seats, with those in the first row given first shot at the upgrade. The semi-private area features wide swivel seats and a counter-style ledge for food and drinks and first dibs on playoff tickets, concerts and the like. Seamless glass around the level should make for better sightlines throughout.“I love it. The vantage point is great, you won’t miss anything, and there’s no obstructions,” said Darren Desrochers, a season ticket holder who was checking out the seats on Wednesday night. The Jets will certainly squeeze some more revenue out of the barn this winter, with season tickets in the loge seats listed at $6,048 (plus a $500 premium seat fee), at least double what 300-level patrons are forking out. Apart from the luxury boxes, only the 100-level seats near centre ice (P1) will set you back more.
“There wasn’t a lot of movement on the wait list so we looked at what we could do to get more people into the building and in a small way cut into that wait list,” True North spokesman Scott Brown said.
As many as 15,294 people will be able to see the improvements when the Minnesota Wild visit for an exhibition game at 7 p.m. on Sept. 22. A new “open concept” scoreboard has four high-definition screens 2 1/2 times the size and with 10 times the resolution of the old one, plus two LED video rings, while the 360-degree power ring has grown in size and resolution as well. Bringing it all together is a new control room that allows for in-house HD images, added cameras and improved audio to enhance the game day experience. There were also some upgrades, including new 60-inch LED televisions, in the premium suites. The improvements are part of the TN 2020 initiative which is expected to see nearly $30 million poured into the building by 2020. The down-low on upgrades True North Sports and Entertainment poured $12 million into off-season additions and renovations at the nearly 11-year-old MTS Centre, including: 278 new premium loge seats in front of the 300-level that feature 24-inch swivel chairs and a counter-style ledge. New seamless glass improves sightlines for 300-level. New high-def scoreboard features four main screens 2 1/2 times the size of the old ones with 10 times the resolution plus upper and lower LED video rings. New 360-degree power ring has 175% increase in resolution. New control room will allow for in-house HD images, improved audio and additional cameras (including a robotic camera under the scoreboard and point-of-view cameras in the penalty boxes) to enhance the game-day experience. www.winnipegsun.com/2015/09/16/mts-centre-makeover

A buddy of mine has seats in the new loge section and was invited to the media unveiling. He said the images from the clock are unbelievable.

If they don't have the dancing hot dog and floating hands clapping, I'm boycotting.
Lulz aside, what a difference between how the team is being operated now and how it was in the first go round.

What is with the giant logo in the middle of the screens? My guess is that thing will lower during intros when the lights are out and light up.

So far True North has spent 18M on upgrades, 6M last offseason on expanding the upper deck concorse/bathrooms and $12M this offseason. Overall they plan on spending another $12M on upgrades. For that type of money what do you hope they do next?
Here is my wish list
1. Work on lower bowl concourse
2. Do something with that ugly concrete ring between the luxury boxes/lower bowl. Paint it blue or paint a bunch of Jets logos on it. Just don't leave it like it is. It looks unfinished/awful.
3. Paint the concrete behind the last row in the upper deck blue or put jets logos on it or great moments in Jets history. Also paint the exposed concrete on the upper reaches of the press box jet blue.
4. Replace the seats. I don't think seat replacement is that expensive. I never been to MTS but reading online I've heard that the seats are hard. Get softer seats that are blue with Jets logos on them.
5. This one I should put first but since I think it's the least realistic I put it last. Get the old jets history back so you can hang the retired jerseys. With arenas it's much harder to get creative with them unlike a baseball park. You can't put ivy or a green monster in an arena. But with arenas you can hang retired jerseys/championship banners. They make nice decoration(see Bell Centre/TD Garden/United Center). The rafters at MTS look minor league/totally bare with nothing hanging from the ceiling. The retired jerseys would make a huge difference.
Overall I think True North has done a great job so far. I can't get over how much better the arena looks with that scoreboard.

#2. It's not concrete. It's acoustic tiles for sound.

Could they still be painted or would paint on them screw them up?
