I opened the paper today and saw that if the playoffs started today, no Canadian teams would be in the playoffs.
Beside the impact to Rogers for TV audience and the teams itself, do you think no Canadian teams would have any other impact to the NHL?
I can't even recall the last time no Canadian teams were in the playoffs.

Interesting question and hard to fathom that could actually happen, but yeah it actually could!
Maybe the NHL would see this as a positive thing as this would mean 16 out of 23 US markets are in which theoretically grows the game where they want to grow it?
I'm sure it's assumed that Canadian fans will keep coming out regardless of whether we make the playoffs or not...maybe not a very good assumption if it's a long term trend.

^^^ That's a really good point. -Calgary's sellout streak ended last year and overall they were 192 people average wise below capacity -Vancouver's sellout streak ended last year even though they reduced capacity by 40 seats. This season due to the new towers they reduced capacity further from 18,870 to 18,570. They've had several games where they haven't sold out -The past 2 years Ottawa was far from selling out. They averages 18,109 and 18,247 the past 2 years. Capacity was 19,153. They reduced that this year with Club Bell taking up some seats to 18,694. Last I checked Ottawa was below 18,000 in attendance. -Toronto's sellout streak ended last year. -Edmonton's sellout streak was over a long time ago "unofficially" -Montreal has been having a bunch of empty seats lately though they are announced as sold and very well may be hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=2016275Not Canada but last season Philadelphia didn't sellout for the season. Their average was 19,271 below the 19,541 capacity. Philly's had games where they haven't sold out this year too. Keep in mind too in the past Chicago had some awful years with Bill Wirtz and Boston had their troubles some years too! Now none of this is a big deal but it shows a few things. 1. NOBODY is perfect 2. Everyone has limits on what they will accept. You keep jacking up prices and keep putting a crap product on the ice people will start to get fed up.
