Burmi had 1 assist and 10 shots on goal in 9 total games at the World Championships. Sorry, that's terrible for someone who has played in both the NHL and KHL and was drafted as high as he was. Shirokov who was a Moose player at best had 3 goals and 16 shots. Telegin who snapped his ankle and hasn't been heard from since had 4 goals and 23 shots. Some Jets fans love him though... I just don't get it. He doesn't produce at the NHL level, couldn't produce in the KHL and is a nobody on a World Championships team that has a bunch of no-namers (yes I know some NHLers showed up eventually) who couldn't crack an NHL line up. I said the same thing when the signed him he did nothing in the KHL, but suddenly he is now going to make it in the NHL? Time to move on or become a 4th line penalty kill specialist, again now size becomes a problem. And if that's all he's capable of, I'd rather give some of our young grinder prospects his spot like Kosmachuk, Lemieux, Lipon, Olsen, etc.

I think Poolman is a up and coming Jet. He definitely has progressed since the Jets drafted him. He is returning to UND next year and will be eligible for UFA status after that. Will he pull a Jimmy Vesey? This article suggests that most players in his position do not go the UFA route: thehockeywriters.com/tucker-poolman-returns-to-und-for-now/

Burmistov has one of the best contracts on the Jets. 1.55M for 16 Minutes for 81 games. He and Lowry (and Ladd) are the the Jets top penalty killing forward. The Jets penalty killing is not up to snuff but it is significantly better than the Flames who "stole" Frolik for 4.3M x5 to do the job that Burmistrov replaced. Burmistov has kicked in with 1.5 hits/gm. Not overwhelming on a heavy team, but really significant on a team that is replacing Ladd with Connor and hopefully pasturing out Thornburn and Pellusso. Except that Frolik at two 42 point seasons with the Jets, including 15 goals and 19 goals. Burmistrov had half that production with 7 goals and 21 pts and a good chunk of that came at the end of the year when it didn't mean anything and he was getting higher minutes due to the lineups we were putting out there. If you want to contend in todays NHL you need 3 scoring lines. Burmi just isn't a scorer and I don't see his use on any one of the first 3 lines. As a 4th liner/penalty killer, fine. What is your cut off for playing in your top-9? At even strength Burmistrov had 7 goals and 19 pts. That doesn't seem like a lot but you then have to consider if Perrault (making 2 twice as much as much as Burmistrov) is top 9 quality with 3 even strength goals and 26 pts. Is Lowry 7 ES goals 17 points in your top-9? If you look at the highest scoring teams in the league you won't find a lot of teams that have their 7-9 top scoring forwards getting any much more than 20-30 pts. Dallas 29-29-29 Washington 40-38-24 Pittsburgh 29-27-16 San Jose 36-20-19 Boston 29-26-25 Florida 34-24-14 These are the top 6 teams in the league in goals for. Burmistrov's 21 points would not necessarily keep him out of the top 9 on the highest scoring teams in the league. There would be virtually no 4th liners in the league chipping in 20 pts.
