Burmi has one more year left on his contract. We could try and trade him for a draft pick or defensive prospect. We can place him on waivers, hoping some club can use him and take his salary off the books. Or we can do nothing.

Burmistrov and Enstrom retain part of salary and swap picks 22+24 with Anaheim for Fowler and Stoner and an RFA forward to help the Moose. D would be Buff/Trouba Fowler/Myers Stoner/Morrissey

^ I like that trade, might be doable too. Where does Stu fit into the equation? I mean he shouldn't fit into it but contractually I guess he must.

Stu has outlived his usefulness. He has been a good soldier but the business end of things dictates that hard decisions have to be made sometimes. As far as Burmistrov is concerned, if he cannot win a spot ahead of Dano or Tanev, he needs to be moved out. He has become a decent penalty killer but not irreplaceable.

If Stuart is a good soldier he can battle for 7/8 D spot with Postma,Chiarot and Melchiori. We have some decent depth D coming with Kostalek, Poolman and Nogier and Kichton on the farm. Moving Burmistrov opens a middle 6 spot for Dano or Armia.

While I liked Burmi's attitude change this year compared to his first go around, I'm still disappointed in his development. IMO he would be a good 4th liner. He plays a somewhat sound defensive game, could help strengthen the 4th line adding the odd goal here and there. Just don't see his value on top 3 lines.

Burmistov has one of the best contracts on the Jets. 1.55M for 16 Minutes for 81 games. He and Lowry (and Ladd) are the the Jets top penalty killing forward. The Jets penalty killing is not up to snuff but it is significantly better than the Flames who "stole" Frolik for 4.3M x5 to do the job that Burmistrov replaced.
Burmistov has kicked in with 1.5 hits/gm. Not overwhelming on a heavy team, but really significant on a team that is replacing Ladd with Connor and hopefully pasturing out Thornburn and Pellusso.

I was pleased with Burmi's development and especially his penalty killing role. On a team that takes tons of penalties he's got a place. But he's not irreplaceable, and if the right offer comes along I think we go for it and trade him.

Of all the Jets Defensive prospects, Morrissey and possibly Niku are the only players I can see making the squad. We really do not have much depth on the blueline, in terms of prospects.

Except that Frolik at two 42 point seasons with the Jets, including 15 goals and 19 goals. Burmistrov had half that production with 7 goals and 21 pts and a good chunk of that came at the end of the year when it didn't mean anything and he was getting higher minutes due to the lineups we were putting out there. If you want to contend in todays NHL you need 3 scoring lines. Burmi just isn't a scorer and I don't see his use on any one of the first 3 lines. As a 4th liner/penalty killer, fine.

I voted trade but not really sure what we'll get for him. I like Burmi as a 4th line penalty killer, I just don't think he'll settle for that which means he'll cause trouble at some point.

Burmi had 1 assist and 10 shots on goal in 9 total games at the World Championships. Sorry, that's terrible for someone who has played in both the NHL and KHL and was drafted as high as he was. Shirokov who was a Moose player at best had 3 goals and 16 shots. Telegin who snapped his ankle and hasn't been heard from since had 4 goals and 23 shots.
Some Jets fans love him though... I just don't get it. He doesn't produce at the NHL level, couldn't produce in the KHL and is a nobody on a World Championships team that has a bunch of no-namers (yes I know some NHLers showed up eventually) who couldn't crack an NHL line up.

Re: the Jet defence- there is a 6'7" d-man who will be in the draft with tons of potential and could well be available for the Jets' second pick. Can't recall his name, though.

I said the same thing when the signed him he did nothing in the KHL, but suddenly he is now going to make it in the NHL? Time to move on or become a 4th line penalty kill specialist, again now size becomes a problem.

I think Poolman is a up and coming Jet.
