Can anyone tell me if there is a website where you can watch all these CCTV cameras atop of these light standards going up all over the place? And what is their purpose? Who is monitoring them and for what? Im not talking about Red Light or Photo Radar Cameras, these are domed CCTV cameras on poles. There is on at Grant and Kenaston in front of Original Joe's, Bishop Grandin at Waverley, Grant at Moray just to name a few.....

Just confirmed on the CoW site that it's part of their Traffic Management system. Monitor traffic flows, control and over-ride lights when necessary to improve flows. According to the disclosure on the same site, "default" camera settings are not high res enough to pick up plate numbers, faces, etc. (However it does not seem to say exactly that they are actually using the default settings?) www.winnipeg.ca/PublicWorks/trafficControl/transportationMgmtCentre.stm

I heard something about it on the radio last week, and yeah that was the first I ever heard of it. They (I think it was 'OB) added some comment (maybe just speculation) that they would probably eventually share the footage with law enforcement. So I guess they let people get used to the idea of being monitored, then slowly juice up the resolution, next thing you know your comings and goings are on Google.
