What I would not give to see another "Battle of Alberta" in the playoffs. When I was a kid, watching the Flames-Oilers was just so intense, and the rivalry was so heated, you could sense. My most vivid memory was Steve Smith trying to clear the zone from behind the net, banking it off Grant Fuhr's leg, and into the net. I was hoping the Flames would win the CUp that year, but they came up short against Montreal in the Finals. I think this may be the year, the battle is rekindled after over 25 years.
Let's face it. The Jets are done. They won't make the playoffs. However, the Battle of Alberta is the next best thing.

Flames were my second fav team all through the 80's. Hated Oilers! Always beat the Jets! Would write all over Wayne's face on his hockey card, use the card in my bike spokes to make that flapping sound, Hated the Oilers! Good thing, battle of Alberta though and would be exciting for most fans, just not this one. I live in Manitoba and Jets sure help over our winters...but looks like winter is close to over, just like the Jets' season.!!

The battle of Alberta will salvage this miserable season for me. It's looking like a very real possibility at the moment.

I couldn't care less about the battle of Alberta, I hate both teams and won't watch. Jets are out, I won't watch much playoffs, maybe a bit of the Blackhawks because I grew up in Chicago and they were my team (there was no Jets then, yes I am old) until moving back home to Winnipeg

I'm going to follow a real underdog market similar to the Jets (but much better team this year) in the playoffs...I think Blue Jackets.

The Kings and Ducks are playing their final regular season game of 2016-17. We should be cheering for the Kings for two reasons:
1. If the Kings win, the Jets will draft #10 instead of #11 (Jets moved up one spot, as the Flyers surpassed them in points).
2. A Kings win and Oilers win, will mean that the Oilers will win the Division, and thus rekindle the Battle of Alberta, after 26 long years.

Not tonight, folks! Late goals to tie and win, to take our 5th straight Pacific Division Title... And now it's time to play Calgary with the hit on Fowler still simmering in Anaheim hearts! ...To whatever extent things like that carry over, lol, but it makes for a talking point going in...not that the people in the booth will reference that incident a million times during the upcoming series or anything, broadcasters NEVER do that. And hey--it's *nowhere* near the awesome Battle of Alberta, but from our standpoint, with this match-up, after the now-Easterly Red Wings (whom they've met six times, and wow, a quarter century straight, I still can't quite wrap my head around a Red Wings-less playoffs) the Flames are now tied with the Stars as the Ducks' second-most common playoff partners, with three meetings and this being the second in three seasons... So it won't be devoid of drama...and the Jets will come back with a vengeance next year, I'm sure.
