NEW YORK - Detroit Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist has been suspended for six games, without pay, for high-sticking Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon during NHL Game No. 829 in Minnesota on Sunday, Feb. 12, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 14:13 of the first period. Nyquist was assessed a double-minor for high-sticking.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Nyquist will forfeit $158,333.34. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fun.

F'me when is the NHL going to subcontract this to someone that is a neutral party.

Vermette got 10 games for tapping a linesman on the ankles. One day when someone loses an eye or gets killed they'll get serious but until then the punishments will be jokes and the players will act accordingly!

Let's take 1000 instances of that minor slash to back of the refs leg, and compare it to 1000 pitch forks to the face. I really really really wonder what is more damaging. I know it'll be close.........
