Poor Ovechkin.
If the Capitals GM had no been so boneheaded as to trade Filip Forsberg to Nashville, for an aging Martin Erat, they may have made it past the Penguins.

And now the Penguins have made yet another Stanley Cup. Ovechkin still has time to make up ground in his rivalry with Crosby (Tom Brady had Peyton Manning's number year in and year out for the first few seasons of their career before Peyton beat him a few times later on and made the Super Bowl himself) but man oh man, what must Ovie be thinking to see Sid the Kid in yet another Stanley Cup Finals after he himself was sent home early again?
I was hoping Ottawa would win just because the Pens just won it, and it would've been fun with two new never-won teams going at it. Still, gotta pull for Pittsburgh now. Should be interesting, Crosby their great offense vs. the Predators' pressing defense and Pekka Rinne...best goalie in the NHL right now.
Should be good.

I doubt Ovechkin will ever make up any ground on Crosby, especially if Sid and the Penguins win the Cup this year. I would not mind seeing Crosby and the Penguins winning another Cup, considering this could be the final year he has a chance at it. I am skeptical that Crosby will be playing into his 30s. He's one concussion away from retirement.

I think he should have been done long ago, and get this vibe that he thinks money will fix him.

I think it's obvious that Corsby has a true passion for the game, and it's up to the doctors to put the brakes on his career. I honestly can't see Crosby retiring unless he is forced to. If you ever get a chance to, read the book "Gross Misconduct: The Life of Spinner Spencer." It's about the career and tragic life of former NHL player Brian Spencer. It devotes nearly an entire chapter about how hard it is for professional athletes to transition from their sport, to normal life upon retirement. The incidence of depression, anxiety, and substance abuse is significantly higher for ex-athletes as compared to the general population.

There may be a time when team Dr's put the athlete ahead of the sport but we all saw Crosby get helped off the ice vs. WAS and return after missing 2 games. If it was protocol with no concussion he wouldn't have missed any. So, when was the last time a player missed 2 games in 4 days and returned from a concussion?

Unsure how to embed this, but anyone know the guy with the beard? Winnipegger in Nashville celebrating Preds victory.
