Former NBA rookie of the year Andrew Wiggins from 3 years ago has signed a 5 year $148M contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves. www.startribune.com/andrew-wiggins-gets-five-year-148-million-extension-from-the-timberwolves/450522623/This is the second biggest contract in total money given to a Canadian athlete. Joey Votto of the Cincinnati Reds got a 12 year $251.5M contract extension with the Cincinnati Reds in 2012. Votto had previous money/years on his deal so his deal was really a 10 year $225M extension. Per year Wiggins gets the most ever. AveragesWiggins-$29.6M Votto- $20.96M Wiggins has 1 year left on his current deal then the extension kicks in. Wiggins is only 22 years old so when the extension expires he will be only 28 years old.
