The big reason Doug Gilmour was traded from St.Louis to Calgary is he had an affair with his underage babysitter, and it would have gone through the courts. The media would have had a field day with it, and been a distraction for the team. So rumor has it the Gilmour camp worked some sort of arrangement out with the family, on the condition that he lave town. Most recently Darryl Sutter's son was traded from the Flames to Carolina after an incident outside a bar with a cab driver in Arizona. The Flames won't admit it, but this was definitely the reason his son was moved.

You would think that something as big as a love triangle between Babych and Lalonde would have somehow leaked, considering both were local celebrities. I recall Lalonde was huge in the later half of the 80's in Winnipeg.
If this incident did occur, Babych is lucky to have escape relatively unscathed. Usually hockey players are no match for champion boxers. I tried searching for the incident on the internet. but could not find anything.

You got to remember something, this all happened before Internet was big, face book, instant messaging and all the social media that we have today. Things were allot easer to keep under wraps back then. I was a friend of the cops son, and a kid at the time when I herd the story. Same person also told me back in the day how the cops were always keeping there eyes open on a few players and management from Edmonton ever time they came into Winnipeg, Coke was the thing they were looking for back then "Grant, Glen, Peter," Oh ya after Dave left for Hartford, very soon The Golden Boy ended up moving there, then a little latter Dave became single again. Dave and Donny were very good friends at the time.Just passing on something that I was told back in the day, I was not there so take with a grain of salt, but I do believe the story.

Hell Winnipeg moved Dave Christian because his wife did not like Winnipeg, and as usual the move was granted and a little later the wife moved again but didn't ask Dave to come this time. (Ya that sound like days of our live stuff, and its true)'

I can actually believe it. I mean one of Bobby Orr's traditions while visiting every NHL city in the late 60's-70's was to call up a escort, and she would "service" him before game time. Nothing really bad about it, as it was faster than going about the town and picking up groupies I suppose.
I can believe this simply because it is not rare for hockey players to end up in an awkward situation if they are not careful. It's happened in calgary with Phaneuf and Regher. Apparently after training camp, two Flames teams were competing for some minor trophy. Phaneuf's team won, and on the bus each player drank beer from the cup. Phaneuf (who had the rep of being a bit of a primadonna), refused to drink from it.
Regher yells from the back of the bus "SEAN AVERY WOULD HAVE DRANK FROM IT!" Upon hearing this, Phaneuf flew into a rage, and almost went at it with Regher. There are also stories about Iginla and Phaneuf getting into a locker room fistfight shortly before Phaneuf was dealt to the Leafs.
back in the late 1990's there was a similar situation with Messier during his time in Vancouver. Mess and Keenan split the locker room in half, especially after the bad blood between Mess and Linden and Gino Odjick.
Trevor Linden was always one of the classiest guys in the NHL, and was very respected in the Vancouver locker room. When he and Odjick were dealt away linden kept quiet, but Gino made it clear exactly what he though about Keenan and Messier.
Mess responded by saying that Linden had put Gino up to saying this, since Linden was "jealous" of him. On top of that, Messier demanded the #11 jersey, even when it was unofficially retired after the death of Canucks player Wayne Maki. And people to this day think Messier was a class act. Sheesh!
