And it starts again Its a free concert, they have to appeal to a wide range of ages, everyone moaned about Nickleback. Personally I don't care, I will be there for the atmosphere, this will probably be the only time that we will host the NHL Kick Off

The band really isn't important, and you can't please everyone. Overall, I like it as you have classic rockers, newer rock and local boys. But really, it is all about the atmosphere and the party. I woulda been happy with Nickleback, BTO or freakin Celine Dion for that matter.

but seriously, BTO?
who decides these things?
any number of bands could have been hired to get the youth interested.
regardless, will be there.

It will be backgound music to the partying going. And btw, I was at BT last Saturday and the row in front of me was full of 20 somethings, all dancing and singing to BT. Doesnt matter how old you are, EVERYONE knows Taking care of business.....and that's what we will be doing at the forks that weekend!!! WOOT

no doubt everyone will be singing to Takin' Care of Business, Ain't Seen Nothing Yet, and Let it Ride - and drinking (legally in the Molson beer tent, of course!). but figured they'd mix it up with something modern (Sum41, Billy Talent, maybe Metric) and something more energetic/party bad (maybe Great Big Sea or equivalent). also although they are awesome, having Blue Rodeo at the Game #1 after-party isn't the best choice- but will be there with bells on anyway! but seriously, BTO? who decides these things? any number of bands could have been hired to get the youth interested. regardless, will be there. i think it is a decent mix. 3 days grace? Didn't they have one hit song 10 years ago?
Should have been The Hip/Metric/BTO
Appeals to everyone

It's not going to be ACDC but if it was that would f*cking rock! Agreed...no one puts on a better live show than AC/DC!...... ;D The Who put on a better live show than AC/DC, but they're too old now. ;D

Thank god its not BTO,and only B&T The CD they put out is actually pretty good. Lets remember, these bands likely wont be playing a full show.B&T take the stage at 5:30,and the game and stuff starts at 6,so they got a half hour at best.

where's the social thread?!?!? Who's all going from this forum? It'd be cool to meet some of the posters in person.
I'll be the one wearing the "Go Ahead and SMITE Me" T-Shirt. jk.

BTO is a Winnipeg based band from what, the 60's. That appeals to the Jets 1.0 fans. Inward Eye (and I've seen them play live a couple times) is REALLY FRICKIN' GOOD -- reminds me of The Doors -- anyway, they represent the local band for the Jets 2.0 days.
I think its a good idea to let the nation know that we have (had) some pretty good bands come out of this city.
I say enjoy the free weekend of entertainment; bring your kids to some of the ball hockey games and skills competitions, and if your over 18 go hydrate yourself over at one of the beer tents.
Really, must we complain about everything on this forum?
Lets celebrate, as a city, if for any other reason than....we BROKE a RECORD yesterday for hottest Oct 5th in history!! LOL!!

Well, i sure wish i was flying up today to attend this, but i sure hope to see lots of people out and about when i get there Friday afternoon. Where should i get my first dinner at tomorrow night? I'm taking suggestions Most of the Jet players hang out at Earls. If you want something authentically Winnipeg might want to try: The Red Top, The Wagon Wheel, Kelekis, VJ's Drive Inn....if you haven't been to the MTS Centre yet there's always Moxies or Tavern United (rooftop patio is nice), I like chillin' at the Forks on a patio and having a meal and some suds and listening to Regaee music overlooking the smelly Red river. Really..it all depends on what you want to do. afterwards, maybe head out to Corydon Ave -- sometimes on Friday nights they have free bands, but that might have already ended. Exchange District is a good hang too -- Kings Head Pub & Eatery. THeres always the Village and its quirkyness..did i miss anything.

For somewhere close to MTS Centre I'd go with Elephant and Castle or Earls as was suggested. Moxies and Boston Pizza are good too!
If you want to try something unique/international Corydon ave is good as suggested, but I'd suggest Mongo's. There's a location on Regent ave and one on Kenaston (Regent would be about a 10-15 min drive from MTSC). They're an all you can eat Mongolian stir fry place and it's phenomenal!
You can put anything you want almost in the stir fry (beef, chicken sirloin tips, crab, veggies, etc) and go up as many times as you want and it's like $13.
