OK so how does this happen now?....they know the format but now the cities have to be picked. But the real issue is agreement by the players to play. Young guys are likely in but the older guys with families are likely hesitant. If the players vote and the motion to play passes do they all have a requirement to play? Will put pass with only one payment in escrow to play for? Some players make think the playing field is level now so everyone in has a chance I guess? But even the money for going all the way is peanuts so does this all come down to will they play?
Patients presenting with Covid-19 now seem to have milder symptoms and the fatality rate is falling fast. So e have claimed the virus is adapting and lowering viral load as killing hosts is a sure fire way to become extinct. Accurate? Will that matter? So may questions and so little Time!

Im wondering if players will be allowed to opt out without penalty. Guys like Kessle on the Coyotes who have had medical issues in the past might not want to come back.

It sounds like the main thing(s) holding things up now are logistics related; where to play, isolation period if applicable, conditioning and training camp...what to do if someone ends up testing positive of course. I'm not sure what happens on the financial end of things and not to take away from the family and health aspect of it all, at this point I don't think there is much risk to the lives of players or their families, even playing a contact sport. I believe they're all going to be tested every day so diagnosis and isolation will be swift. Back in March, April, even May I could see players saying there are way more important things than hockey. There still are but I think we're at the point now with things opening up that I can't imagine there would be many players who would take a pass on a chance to win the Cup. Hopefully Jets don't have any of those.
I was kind of anxious for it all to begin but summer has set in now, mid August would be a nice time to get playoffs underway.
Go Jets Go!

NHL training camps for Stanley Cup Qualifiers to open July 10 www.nhl.com/news/nhl-phase-3-training-camps-open-july-10/c-317141536?tid=317064234Phase 3 of Return to Play Plan will occur if medical, safety conditions allow Training camps for the 24 NHL teams resuming play will open July 10, the League and NHL Players' Association announced Thursday. Phase 3 of the NHL Return to Play Plan will occur provided that medical and safety conditions allow, and the parties have reached an agreement on resuming play. The length of training camp and the start date for resumption of play (Phase 4) will be determined. Phase 2, which allowed teams to hold limited workouts with small groups at their team facilities, began Monday. "Obviously that's good news for us, having the date of July 10," Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly said. "It's kind of what we've been waiting for. And I think if you ask most players, the hardest part of it all was the uncertainty. ... Now it's just a matter of putting in the time between now and July 10, getting everyone together, and hopefully from there it'll be smooth sailing in terms of what we have to accomplish in order to get playing again. But obviously it's helpful having dates. Having to go that long without any news or hard information in terms of a start time is tough, but we know it now and hopefully we can go in the right direction." The NHL announced its Return to Play Plan on May 26 with 24 teams in competition for the Stanley Cup. It will begin with the Stanley Cup Qualifiers, which will include 16 teams playing eight best-of-5 series, and a round-robin among the top four teams in each conference to determine seeding for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The qualifiers will be held at two hub cities to be identified -- one for the 12 participating Eastern Conference teams and one for the 12 Western Conference teams -- and begin at a date to be determined. The 2019-20 NHL season was paused March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus, and facilities were closed. In Phase 2, players can participate on a voluntary basis, and workouts (on-ice and off-ice) are limited to a maximum of six players at any time, plus a limited number of staff. Lightning close facilities after multiple players test positive for COVID-19Tampa Bay Lightning players and staff members tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the team to temporarily close facilities to Phase 2 training, according to TSN’s Bob McKenzie. M cKenzie believes that three Lightning players and two staff members tested positive. McKenzie notes that facilities could re-open if remaining staffers and players don’t test positive. Now, if more Lightning players or staff members test positive? Then we’ll need to wait and see. As of this writing, the Lightning have not released a statement on the matter. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman backs up McKenzie’s report, though. Florida ranks as one of the states hit hardest by COVID-19. It ranks among the states that have seen record spikes in positive cases lately. There are concerns that Florida could become the next epicenter for the spread of disease. Consider this COVID-19 map from the CDC: Lightning test positive COVID-19 Florida outbreaks CDC map via the Center for Disease Control Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently said that the state will not shut down despite these spikes. 📊Bill Comeau Wear a Mask. 😷 @billius27 I guess this chart has extra relevance with more #NHL players being tested positive in the US. As Hardball Talk’s Craig Calcaterra notes, five Philadelphia Phillies players and three staffers who were training in the Clearwater area tested positive for COVID-19. Again, McKenzie reports that the Lightning could reopen facilities for Phase 2 if others don’t test positive for COVID-19. Here’s hoping that at least the Lightning and NHL’s decision makers err on the side of caution, even if others seem more willing to roll the dice. This post will be updated if the Lightning and NHL make statements on these matters. nhl.nbcsports.com/2020/06/19/tampa-bay-lightning-players-staff-test-positive-for-covid-19-halt-training/

I don't think any of these sports leagues should do this. This is pure GREED. Who cares about an crowing an * champion with no fans. This is all about collecting tv money by greed owners and players in the major sports. All the games in all the sports will be a total sham.
There is no way the NFL is going to pull this off playing in the fall when wave number 2 comes(though wave number 1 hasn't really left) with 53 players per team. Baseball is going to have big troubles too without a bubble which would be impossible with 30 teams and 30 players per team. MLB if they start are for sure going to have the embarrassment of having to stop and call the season. NHL and NBA may have a better shot with a bubble but still. The start of next season for either NBA or NHL won't happen with the trouble we are having here in the states during the summer. I can't imagine how bad things will be fall/winter. What NBA/NHL should do is suspend the season and start back up next spring at the point this season left off. Combine 2 seasons into one. So the NBA/NHL champ would be the 2019-21 champs. Hopefully by next spring there will be a vaccine or at least better treatments to lessen the virus. Doing it this way would mean each sport would miss only 1 season which isn't the end of the world.

A 49er player has tested positive in Nashville www.profootballrumors.com/2020/06/49ers-player-tests-positive-for-covid-19A 49ers player has tested positive for COVID-19, according to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL.com (on Twitter). The player’s identity has not been revealed. The positive player was working out with other NFL players in Nashville, Tennessee. Those who were with the player are getting tested and the players who live elsewhere are working to figure out their travel options. All of the Niners’ quarterbacks were present for the workouts, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com (on Twitter) hears, and “many other skill players” were also on hand. Jimmy Garoppolo, Jalen Hurd, Trent Taylor, Brandon Aiyuk, and Kyle Juszczyk were among those in Tennessee. In recent days, there have been a number of positive tests in the sports world. In the NFL, that includes Cowboys star Ezekiel Elliott and Broncos safety Kareem Jackson. The positive tests raise the unfortunate reality of a return to sports – no matter what protocols are in place, social distancing is impossible on the field. Well it appears I will be saving a years season tickets on the CFL. As COVID rebounds in the States, borders will remain closed to casual travel. Pro sports will have a difficult time making a go of it in this environment.

Yeah, looks like COVID-19 is not near done with us yet. May be too risky for any contact sports after all. NHL, who doesn't want to see hockey, but not at any cost. I don't see how it can be done when players are already coming up positive and not even started official training camps yet. (classic RicO flip flop) If cases flatten again I'll be right back on the bandwagon.
