Tom Brady just won his 7th superbowl at age 43 in his 21st year in the NFL with a new team the Tampa Bay Bucs. This makes him pass Michael Jordan as the greatest athlete ever. Jordan won only 6 rings and when he came back he was mostly washed up at age 38 on the lowly Washington Wizards averaging only 22 points on a inefficient shooting percentage and getting hurt and missing the last 3rd of the season. The next year he averaged only 20 points then quit for good at age 40. He missed the playoffs both seasons. Not only that he threw his teammates under the bus(they hated him) and after season one made the horrible trade with Detroit giving them Richard Hamilton for Jerry Stackhouse(he still had control over the roster even though he wasn't technically the gm anymore).

The TBay defense destroyed Mahomes tonight, but still, what Brady keeps accomplishing is remarkable.

Yes remarkable feat. Takes an element of genes, luck and no or minimal injuries combined with great teammates. Barry Saunders couldn't stand the losing in Detroit and retired. Tom Brady wins a lot and is still enthused about the game. Plus it is easy when your line can protect you and in the 4th quarter you look you're not sweating. Meanwhile Patrick Mahomes is running for his life. This was by far his easiest SB win. As to who is better MJ or TB; forgets about the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Celtic dynasties and their players. Jean Beliveau, Henri and Rocket Richard, Bill Russell, Sam and KC Jones Bob Cousy. Or others like Kareem Abdul Jabbar or LeBron have many rings and singular accomplishments. It would be hard especially when we go back and compare players from different sports and eras when THE GAME was different...whatever game you choose, it has always evolved and morphed.

The TBay defense destroyed Mahomes tonight, but still, what Brady keeps accomplishing is remarkable. Losing pro bowl left tackle Eric Fisher at the end of the AFC championship game to a torn achilles was a killer. Plus they were without their right tackle and guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif(from Canada) opted out of the season since he's a Montreal doctor and wanted to take care of covid patients. I never seen a line at the NFL level perform that bad. Tampa does have a good defense so it was a total mismatch.

I agree with you era's change and games evolve(see sabermetrics in MLB and the rise of the 3pt shot in the NBA, better training, MLB players in the 20's had real jobs and didn't train until spring training etc...) but I don't consider the early start of sports when there were few teams like the Celtics era legit. Way too primitive. Something I would add for the greatest athlete thing is how important that sport is. If CTE destroys football or grinds it down to a nitch sport you'd have the take that into account and put minus points towards Brady. But as of right with what we currently know now he's number 1.

Tom Brady retired last week despite having a great year at age 44 years old. I truly thought he'd play forever.

Sucks to see it end...but not gonna lie, i hated seeing him play in another uniform. The Kraft, Brady, Belichick split is still having ripples around the boston market.
