One big problem the Jets had for the first 10 NHL seasons was inconsistent goalkeeping. That all changed in 1986-87 when two virtual unknown young goalies led the Jets to a dramatic improvement from the 1985-86 campaign. Eldon "Pokey" Reddick and Daniel "The Bandit" Berthiaume were a duo that had Jets fans very excited. It's hard to believe that both players did not get far in their careers after the initial couple of seasons playing for the Jets. Berthiaume, in particular, looked like he could become a star for years to come. It was not meant to be. However, for just one year it looked like the Jets were on the rise to become one of the NHL's competitive teams.

I remember those guys to but I think I was 6 when they played here! I played against Pokey at the Max Bell center during summer hockey about 15 years ago. He was in town for something and came out and played. He was still pretty good, and he even came in and had beers with us after. Most of the guys on the team were 18 years old and he knew we were fans. He probably sat with us for half an hour. He was an awesome guy! Miss you Pokey!!

My gym teacher has it up in the corridor leading to the gym.
Good times!
