"Kraken forward Brandon Tanev out for season with ACL injury | The Seattle Times" www.seattletimes.com/sports/kraken/krakens-brandon-tanev-out-for-season-with-acl-injury/Well my 2nd favorite Jet to wear 13, Tanev went down with an ACL tear in an earlier game. Out for the season. In related news if that's what Wheelers has; he is out for the rest of the year. And at that age he could be done playing competitive hockey. I wish the Jets would let us know. It's not like they're covering to protect a player when he comes back to play next week.

Sorry to hear about Tanev, he's young and modern day surgeries seem to result in full recoveries...and in his case it better because I'm not sure what type of players he'd be if he can't skate like Tanev.
As for Wheeler, yeah, secret society of True North, nobody outside of the board room knows anything until absolutely necessary and then just the minimum amount of info. Not that fans need to know everything about everything but the secret society feel does create a bit of a disconnect between the franchise and the fans who are supposed to be the passion fueling it...imo.

In Manitoba it's called the personal health and information act and the privacy act. FIPPA / PHIA. It's protects your privacy in regards to your health information. If Wheeler or anyone here for that matter doesn't allow the information to be released it won't be. Jets management would be in deep doodoo if they did without Wheeler's consent.

Yes every jurisdiction has a form of a health privacy act. That said, certain teams, and by extension players, are more willing to be candid about player diagnosis as they relate to hockey. The Jets have stated which players that have tested positive for COVID for instance. In the meantime for whatever reason it interests you as a fan or an opposing team you can infer 26's injury by the mechanism and his placement on LTIR. They do seem overly coy about Wheelers injury and longterm plans.

^^ Maybe you're right...for private health matters I'm sure you are right. I wonder about what can be disclosed in pro sports though. Do they have to ask player's permission to disclose when a player is in concussion protocol when they have obviously suffered a head injury? They seem to do this routinely and I'd be surprised if they had to ask the player first if that's OK...or the general Lower or Upper body injury, it's still disclosing health info even if it is fairly nebulous.
