Time to start the conversation. Jets have picks in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 5th (from NYR), and 7th rounds. There is a strong possibility of a major trade. There's also the possibility that there might be a new GM calling the shots.

Here is some data showing what the NHL averages are for drafting players in each round of the draft, from 2011 to 2017, as well as how the Jets have done.
2011-2017 Drafts: Played At Least One NHL Game: DRAFT ROUND 1ST 2ND 3RD 4TH 5TH 6TH 7TH NHL AVG 98.57% 71.7% 56.47% 43.63% 36.04% 28.9% 23.71% WPG AVG 100% 80% 44.4% 37.5% 50% 33.3% 11.1% # of Picks 9/9 4/5 4/9 3/8 3/6 2/6 1/9
2011-2017 Drafts: Played Minimum of 200 NHL Games (*100 G starting in 2016/**75 G in 2017): DRAFT ROUND 1ST 2ND 3RD 4TH 5TH 6TH 7TH NHL AVG 76.23% 40.21% 20.87% 17.51% 10.91% 9.01% 4.77% WPG AVG 88.9% 20% 22.2% 12.5% 16.7% 16.7% 0% # of Picks 8/9 1/5 2/9 1/8 1/6 1/6 0/9
⦁ Only Minnesota, Toronto, & Colorado drafted a player in the 1st round that didn't play in an NHL game (3 out of 211 picks = 1.4%). ⦁ Only 5 picks (2.4%) in the top 10 of a draft ended up failing to reach the 200 game mark: NY Islanders (twice), Vancouver, Buffalo, & Tampa Bay. The highest pick that failed to hit 200 was the 5th overall selection (NYI - Da Colle & VAN - Juolevi).
⦁ 10 players (4.7%) that were selected between the 11th and 20th picks didn't play enough games in the NHL. It happened to Boston 3 times, while Colorado, Carolina, Chicago, Philadelphia, Columbus, Dallas, & Detroit did it once.
⦁ In the 21st to 31st pick category, a total of 29 players (13.7%) couldn't get in 200 NHL games. Vancouver led the way with 3 failed picks, while Toronto, Arizona, Calgary, Washington, Montreal, Columbus, & New Jersey were disappointed 2 times each. This is where Winnipeg's failed 1st round pick occurred (24th - Vesalainen).

Here is a proposal: Connor, Scheifele, Pionk, Morrissey, Dubois, Heinola, Stanley, Lucius, our 1st round picks in 2023 and 2024, $25 million in return, we get the #1 overall pick from whoever wins the NHL lottery!

As of today the Jets would pick 19th. Some WHL players ranked in around 19th: (I refuse to list smurfs) Nate Danielson 6'1" 185 lb C www.google.ca/amp/s/smahtscouting.com/2023/01/09/scouting-report-nate-danielson/amp/Koene Ziemmer 6'3" 205 lbs RWhttps://thehockeywriters.com/koehn-ziemmer-2023-nhl-draft-prospect-profile/ Samuel Honzek 6'3" 186 lbs LWhttps://thehockeywriters.com/samuel-honzek-2023-nhl-draft-prospect-profile/#:~:text=Samuel%20Honzek%20was%20selected%2010th,been%20their%20main%20offensive%20weapon.

So let's hope some smurfs are chosen before Wpgs picks There's all kinds of smurfs in this organization already. It's not how you build a playoff team. Bedard would be the proverbial exception to the rule. As for Perfetti he has to put on some pounds and muscle so he stops getting pushed around and injured.

Imagine Stanley and Kovacevic out there tonight? With Dillon you've got plenty of deterrence there.

So let's hope some smurfs are chosen before Wpgs picks Bedard was 5'10/185 as if September 2022 (he had just turned 17. In comparison: Gretzky was 6'0/185 in his 30s Crosby is 5'11/200 today. It's not that hard to imagine Bedard peaking at 5'11/200 in his prime.

Some have compared Bedard to Patrick Kane. Both are around the same size. Isn't that ironic because doesn't Chicago have the best lottery chance?
Bedard is not the fastest or quickest of his draft class but his other skills far surpass them.

The arena would be sold out for years, and we would have a similar trajectory as the Oilers after they drafted McDavid.
