Bedard has yet to experience a full season against grown men. It's a whole other world playing in the land of giants. The knock against him is Bedard is all about Bedard. He doesn't necessarily make his linemates better. That may fly in the "Dub" but not so much in the men's league. McDavid has been spectacular for years but it's only now that they've finally built a team around him that the Oilers are becoming contenders.

That's what they said about Gretzky too, and the main reason the Jets passed on him. Bedard is an inch shorter, but outweighs Gretzky by 20 pounds when comparing them as 17 year Olds. 2. They said that about Sakic. The reality with him and Bedard was that they both played on shifty teams. We saw what Bedard did on Team Canada with good players. He was the reason they won Gold.

The Jets should try real hard to trade up and get Nate Danielson from Brandon. Good opportunity to dangle Scheiffle to some team picking in the 8 to 12 spots.

Having a look around at all the mock drafts. After the top 5 it's a real mix up with players varying a lot in their ranking from one mock draft to another. I'm particularly hopeful the Jets go after Nate Danielson. He ranked as high as eigth and as low as 23rd. The Jets would likely have to trade up the board to try and obtain him.

Bufallo may be an ideal trade partner. They're looking to start winning and making the playoffs after an elongated rebuild. In order to do that they need a goaltender. My proposal would be to package up Scheif and Helle for Alex Tuck and Mattias Samuelsson and their 1st round pick (13th) Buffalo has $14 million in cap space. They would still potentially have about $5 million after. The Jets it will be a break even. Tuck has 2yrs left while Smuelsson is signed for 6 more years. Of course Schmidt or Demelo or both could be traded for 2nd or 3rd round picks.

Time to start the conversation. Jets have picks in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 5th (from NYR), and 7th rounds. There is a strong possibility of a major trade. There's also the possibility that there might be a new GM calling the shots. This posting did not age well---we still have Cheveldayoff in the GM's chair.

Well besides the part about a new GM there has been a major trade and now they have a pick in the 2nd round. So overall not a bad guess. 😆🤪

#18th pick for Winnipeg Jets = Colby Barlow LW Here's some articles about him: www.orilliamatters.com/local-sports/column-barlow-is-going-to-play-in-the-nhl-for-a-long-time-7208275detroithockeynow.com/2023/06/27/nine-for-nine-will-the-red-wings-draft-colby-barlow/www.theobserver.ca/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/canucks-prize-power-forward-prospect-colby-barlow-draws-favourable-draft-comparisonHere are some quotes pulled from articles about him: “Colby is going to play in the NHL for a long time,” Owen Sound Attack general manager Dale DeGray said in a chat earlier this month. “He already has a pro shot, he skates like an NHLer and has a body like one.” He’s now team captain, has scored 76 goals in just 118 OHL games and earned the unofficial tag as the league’s top NHL prospect this year. “He’s a typical, modern-day power forward,” said DeGray. “The game is different now, but Colby is (old school) in how he fights hard for his space and creates chances by how hard he plays. He already plays like a pro that way.” Colby Barlow has been compared to the big, creative and productive Matt Boldy. It’s not just the 46 goals and 79 points the left winger amassed in 59 games, along with three goals in four playoff outings this season for Owen Sound. It’s the manner in which he went about his business as captain and a leader. Barlow, a 6-foot-1, 187-pound native of Orillia, Ont. is productive at the net or in the slot. He’s a pain to play against, creates turnovers, and his defensive awareness is going to resonate with any coach. Scouting Report Barlow is one of the best pure scorers in the 2023 draft class. He netted 46 goals this season and owns a cannon for a shot, but also isn’t afraid to battle in front of the net. He has a high hockey IQ and a big frame that allows him to get to rebounds and tips. He’s a decent skater who doesn’t have that extra gear to get past defenders yet, but his mechanics are such that he should easily improve in that area. He’s not a flashy playmaker, but has the knack of consistently making smart passes. Barlow is a gifted offensive player who drives hard to the net. He has a knack for anticipating and stealing passes, then starting the offense from the defensive end. He should be a solid threat to score, in the 40-50 point range, and could exceed that if paired with a star player. He should be a top-six NHL forward. He wins plenty of puck battles Most pundits have Barlow slotted around No. 9 in pre-draft scenarios.

Hopefully this marks the end of drafting Smurfs. Awesome pick! Big guy who works hard and is a natural leader. This team has finally begun to draft and trade for playoff type players.
