I say let's do Connor for Laine and a 2nd rounder. With all due respect Ric O, nope, and no way. Laine has not lived up to his hype, and his contract is way too rich for what he brings/his worth. And yeah, when he was in Winnipeg, you saw the potential when he was at his best, that has come and gone, heโs not worth his current contract, nor do I believe that he can replicate what he did in Winnipeg when he was at his best, that ship has sailed. Maybe he ends up in Washington with PLD/Iโm not being sarcastic. Cheers, 2b9๐๐๐

Just a thought, PLD๐๐คฃ๐:
Can you imagine at the next GM meetings coming up, Chevy and Blake seeing each other๐ค๐ซฃ๐๐๐.
I would love to be a witness to that encounter๐๐!

Well, if we thought PLD was pouty in the past just wait for this season lol. Gonna be interesting to see how this goes this upcoming season for Washington and including PLD, this could be his last chance before heโs pushed off to Hockey purgatory/No Manโs Hockey Land. Cheers, 2b9๐๐๐ What could go right here? Nothing, I would venture.

Itโs going to be interesting, this could be a disaster for both Washington and PLD, or, it could be a win/win for both sides if PLD gets his emotional poop together. Cheers, 2b9๐๐๐

Your point is Laine, whose best is behind him, and dealing with some personal factors muddying the waters (how apropos for Winnipeg!), for a player (Connor) who also peaked around 2018 is not equitable. Money and remaining term is similar too.
I used to be in the "Connor is underrated" camp but not anymore. Laine, I think is by far the most polarizing player Jets have ever had in Jets 1.0 or 2.0 history so I throw that out there knowing you for sure and many others will not agree, which is totally fine of course.
But I know a lot of fans would love to see him back in a Jets uni too. I may be wrong but I think Laine still has a lot to prove and will...and still has greater potential to be a playoff performer than whoever we would trade for him. And no, unfortunately I don't think he'll be coming home either. Heard speculation on XM NHL Network that Habs are interested in him.

The Athletic has a piece on the worst value contrcats for each team. No surprises here:
Neal Pionk: Itโs been strange watching Pionkโs arc in Winnipeg. He made an excellent first impression for the Jets as a high-end top-four defender to replace Jacob Trouba. He was rewarded with a lucrative extension and whether itโs because of previous injuries or other factors, heโs looked like a shadow of himself recently. Pionk struggled mightily in a top-four role this year.
Nate Schmidt is an analytics darling because of his results in a sheltered third-pair role. He may not have landed on this list statistically but heโs still on a bad contract โ you just canโt pay a third-pair defender nearly $6 million, no matter how well heโs performing in that role.
For LA of course it was PLD lol.

Winnipeg Jets had two players on the NHL's top fighters list last year, according to SportsHandle: Lowry was tied for 5th win a win percentage of 86% (6 for 7). Dillon sits in a tie for 20th at 57% (4 for 7). sportshandle.com/nhls-best-fighter/BTW, the Flyers' Deslauriers won the "Bob Probert Award" with a perfect 11 for 11. Philly as a team won 96% of their fights in the past season.

But Probert's legacy also includes cocaine, CTE and premature death at 45.
