The Athletic has a piece a week or two ago showing the top 125 players in various tiers. Today, they are shwoing some commnets (anonymous of course) from various players are these rankings, of note:
Josh Morrissey, Winnipeg Jets “I’m surprised he’s not up there. I’m kind of surprised at that one.”
“Josh Morrissey being so low — that’s concerning.”
“Morrissey should be up with Shea Theodore. Morrissey gets his offense while playing against the top guys. That matters to me. A lot of defensemen who score a lot of points don’t play against the other team’s best but Morrissey does.”
“Kyle Connor. Lower than Verhaeghe?"

"Kyle Connor. Lower than Verhaeghe?"
I agree with this. Verhaeghe, along with being an offensive talent the last three years has been a double digit plus player which indicates his defensive consciousness. Connor the last 4 years a minus player and last year double digit minus.

This kind of peripheral to the Jets but since he was mentioned as a possible acquisition for the Jets. this may be of interest: Shane Pinto of the Ottawa Senators has been suspended for 41 (!) games for violating the league's gambling policies. Details are scarce at the moment but apparently he did not gamble on the Senators or any NHL game, so the severity of the suspension seems excessive.

Yes if he had actually been gambling on games then 41 is good. But they said he wasn't so i find it surprising that it's many games.

There really hasn't been any information about what he did, other than not betting on NHL games. However, the total lack of any pushback from the player or NHLPA so far makes me think there is plenty of "evidence" against Pinto. He may not have bet on NHL games, but if he was providing inside information to other bettors on NHL teams then I can see why the league came down hard. FYI - the NHL's policy doesn't stop players from betting on NHL games according to former players on TSN, so it wasn't like Pinto bet on the Cowboys and got suspended for half a season.

Free Press has an article “Wheeler Wallowing in NY” - zero points and minus 3; already done to the 3rd and 4th line. Father Time has rung the bell.

Schadenfreude here, NY your turn. Tough way to end your career. A mere shadow of yourself rather than on a high note like Buff.

From Illegal Curve (I was going to ask the Moose watchers if any of the young prospects were playing good D):
Rookies are alright:
Jets prospect Brad Lambert off to a very productive start with 4G 5A for 9pts in six games. And it’s not just the points. Doing lots of good things with & without puck. The move to the middle looking good so far. However, the points are good enough to have him tied for 2nd for points by a rookie in the AHL.
Teammate Jeff Malott said he is seeing that hard work from Lambert. The things that don’t show up on a stat sheet. “He’s taking on a lot of responsibility for us. That’s a big job. He’s done extremely well. He’s working real hard in the faceoff dot, real hard on D-Zone structure and it’s awesome when you can have a young guy come in and have an impact like that.”
The player in 4th spot for rookie points is Nikita Chibrikov (1G 7A) who sits one point back of Lambert. He’s also looked good since joining the Moose. He’s transitioned quite nicely from playing overseas to here in North America.
“I think they are really starting to get the pro game” said head coach Mark Morrison when asked what these two are doing that isn’t showing up on a stat sheet. “They’re both moving the puck and getting open when they don’t have the puck.”
He continued “As far as their defensive game goes getting body position, coming back in D-Zone coverage for example and being in the right spot. They’re learning the system, they’re learning how things move on the ice as far as quickness goes and how you have to recover. They’re doing a great job. We’re only six games in here and you can tell they’ve learned some things.”

Big Time NHL News:
Senators GM Dorion out as GM, one story stated that Dorion resigned, read another story that stated that Dorion was fired.
Some clarity would be good.
Regardless, it stems from the botched trade of Dadonov, including Ottawa losing a first round draft pick coming up, year 24, 25, 26, Ottawa will determine which year that they will forfeit.
The forfeiture comes as a penalty of the botched Dadonov trade.

When my son was 10 years old and playing in a junior league in Yorkton SK, I bought and forced him to wear a neck guard to the derision of other players. He wasn't crazy about it, either. About three weeks later, on national television, Clint Malarchuk had his carotid artery sliced open by an errant skate blade. The next weekend, just about every kid on his team was wearing neck guards. All wisdom comes at a price.
