Back for a 4 game home stand now....against a mixed bag of teams: Dallas, Edmonton, Chicago, & Carolina. 2 real contenders and the Oilers who've been filling the net of late. A pissed off McDavid is always a challenge.

Simple summary. Their goalie was better. Way better Their #1 against our #2 so that should be expected.

I'm not 100% on the numbers, but I noted that Hellebuyck has saved 4.8 goals above expected so far this year and then this morning saw that the Winnipeg Jets had saved -2.6 goals below expected as a team. If those numbers are right, that means Brossoit has saved 7.4 less goals than the average NHL goalie would.
That's poor even for a backup.

The idea being to give #1 a rest and still give your team a chance to win. He's 2-2-1 in his starts. Somewhat successful in that capacity. And historically, he's had better numbers. To stay sharp, goalies need to play, so let's wait for a few more starts. Helle needs to stay healthy is what I'm thinking.
