I'll go first. The only way someone would take Schmidt is to sweeten the pot. Ehlers is playing well (not a playoff performer)so that's when you get the best value. I would try and package these two for a D man. You have to give up something to get something. Stanley for a pick (experiment is over). Chisholm flashed today but it's too early to see where that goes. Heinola will be back soon. Is he ever going to be a top 4 ? If not time to move him. Small D rarely have playoff success unless their skill level is very high. A couple of kids might be ready next year so a couple forwards may be moved out then. A couple 4th liners could be upgraded ? Vilardi needs to get back on the 1st line ASAP. Slide Ice Capades Ehlers down.

Keep in mins we are still in 'win now' mode; so there will no trading of Ehlers regardless of how much we need a top 4 D. Clealry Schmidt is last guy on the totem pole but he is untradeable without either throwing in an asset or paying some of his next year salary. If we could bail on him at the deadline and eat 50% of his 2024 salary I would be fine with that. Stanley would be a throw in on any trade at this point.
Chisholm looks better than Stanley and he is bigger than Ville but both of these guys can be looked harder at next year (unless we trade 88 in which case I play a young guy). I would go after a D like Tanev who would pair perfectly with an offensive minded left D.
So, I would look to trade Schmidt and knowing we will probably only keep 1 of Demelo/Dillon next year I would look for a better Dman and use Ville, Stanley and draft picks as trade capital. This team is going to look to add like they did with Nino and Namemanski(sp) but more likely on the D side not on forwards. Once we get Kapari back the 4th line will also be loaded.

If you're looking for quality in return, Heinola is the guy you move. A potential PP runner that a lot of teams lack.

Although he was one of the untouchables in the past along with Lucius, Lambert and McRoarty ( and now likely Samuelson and Barlow).

Was listening to the "Jets at Noon" show with Jim Toth yesterday. I'm in the camp of moving Schmidt like most of us. Interesting that Toth would keep him as insurance for the play-offs. Needless to say I didn't agree!
