When the 3 injured guys come back where does everyone go ? There is also Chisholm and Stanley. Gotta be a trade and a Moose assignment (Heinola). Hate to even mention more injuries but...

Decisions will have to be made.
Kupari could be back as early as Dec 27th, which will send Toninato back to the Moose. Heinola is a bit longer and he is waiver-exempt, so could very likely start with the Moose. I think with Bowness saying the Finn would have made the team without the injury, he won't be in the AHL long and hopefully Winnipeg moves one of the defenders to make room (ideally Schmidt, but that's not going to happen so it's between Stanley or Chisholm in my opinion).
When Connor is back, so much can change before then, but all I see Winnipeg doing is trying to slip AJF through waivers again. It will be hard to see someone playing so well like Gustafsson becoming a healthy scratch, but I guess it's a good problem for a team to have.

I keep hoping for a Stanley trade that brings back good prospects and picks. Stock the shelves. (not that I don't like Stanley, but I think some GM somewhere will look at Stanley with Chara-tinted glasses and covet the dood)

I would be disappointed to see Stanley leave but I do understand why. If he were only more physical and meaner... I can envisage Chisholm eventually replacing Schmidt. He has some size and an offensive side to him. But no matter how I shuffle things in my mind, there is limited space up there 😆, I can't find a permanent spot for Heinola without losing DeMelo, Pionk, or Moe. Almost every team is looking for D-men I would think it would have been much easier to move Stanley or even Heinola then it has been. I would have thought Ottawa or Buffalo would jump at Heinola? Regardless it's a nice "problem" to have. Too many D and no place to put them.

Too much film on him now to fool anyone.

Lucky to get a 4th rounder in 2030…He has little value. I suspect he will be a throw-in for some trade down the road. Ville will likely spend the rest of the season with the Moose, there is no reason to bring him up barring injury or trade. And why would the team trade a D during this season? If anything they may add another right handed D. Next season we have Demelo and Dillon as free agents so we will likely sign one because we have to move in some young guys. And they will also trade or buyout Schmidt. I have zero doubt about that. Ville’s waiver exemption is a critical piece here. It will be used at least for awhile - let’s not forget it may take him a good hunk of time to get back to his pre injury level. How long that takes will determine actions taken for the rest of the year BUT they may very well leave him in the AHL this year.

For the spiritual folks, today's event was in the barn as there was "No room at the Inn" Actually that is a commonly held misconception, from what I hear. The writings only mention that baby Jesus was placed in a manger (a feeding trough for animals) after being born and that is where the whole 'born in a barn" thing came from. In fact, the whole "inn" thing is not accurate either. The word used (kataluma) can be taken as an "inn", but it is also the word for "eating or dining room". So it is more likely that Mary & Joseph weren't able to stay in their families' guest/dining room because there was no room, therefore they likely stayed on the bottom floor of the house (where people commonly kept their animals. thus the trough). Anyways, that's something I saw on the BBC, maybe someone finds it interesting too. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to everyone.
