Happy New Year (eve)!
It's like a continuation of yesterday's game, just better since Jets won the first half of the back to back.
Today will probably be a little meaner/edgier - as Wild think Kaprizov was cheap-shotted by Dillon and the ensuing fight was apparently not enough to appease them.
Well, we'll find out...could be nasty!
Brossoit gets the start.
From Illegal Curve:
Jets projected lines & D pairs:
Ehlers - Scheifele - Vilardi Perfetti - Namestnikov - Iafallo Niederreiter - Lowry - Appleton Barron - Toninato - Jonsson-Fjallby
Morrissey - DeMelo Dillon - Pionk Samberg - Schmidt
Hellebuyck Brossoit
Go JETS GO!

Kaprizov is out for today's game...former Jet Petan called up from Iowa. Also, Winnipeg called up Jeffrey Viel from the Moose on an emergency basis.
This game could easily go into goon-mode, so our players better keep their heads up.

It’s going to be an interesting game based on yesterdays game, could see Dillon and Lowry regularly duking it out against Wild players today, it would not surprise me to see a fight to start off the game, also wouldn’t be surprised if a brawl breaks out at some point just based on yesterday’s heat generated. I’m hoping the Jets stay disciplined, play their game and don’t play down to the Wild, dictate the game to Minnesota, let Minnie take all of the penalties don’t succumb to Minnie’s antics. Also hoping that the PP starts clicking, it looked a lot better yesterday, just didn’t have any luck popping some goals from close in. Those are a few of my thoughts. Hopefully a win for the Jets today, GO JETS GO!

Sit Samberg play Stanley. Tell Perfetti to stay off the boards and keep his head on a swivel or take him right out of the game.

Hopefully Minnesota’s Fleury has a crappy game in net for the Wild.

Some games aren't about the final score and this may be one of them. A guess and just my opinions on my part but with Kaprisov out the Wild will be out to impose some revenge on the Jets. The Jets top 2 lines do not have a physical player to counter any aggression. The refs have to gain control right from the start or this will get out of hand quickly. Lowry's line which was so effective will spend its time brawling. Scheif's line will be the target so they need to keep their gloves on and skate away. Namestikov's line needs Viel on the wing instead of Perfetti and it might be an idea to sit Schmidt to give Stanley a chance to be the physical player we all hope he would be. This game might be a test in how tough the Jets can be and less about how skilled they are. The wild certainly have an abundance of goons and will use that. My New years eve rambling. Please don't hesitate to disagree or rant against. It's what we're here for right? 🤪

Just watching the Canada Germany game...Geekie gets 5 and a game 11 seconds into it! Commentator says there was "a bit of head contact" but it looked to me like a pretty blatant head shot...not particularly clean in any league in my opinion. Sets the mood for me for the Jets/Wild anyway.

Geekie was level on his check through the entire hit (didn't drive up to make contact with head) and would have hit a 6' player in the chest. Not sure what else you can do when a short player has his head even ducked lower down looking at the puck on his stick....guess you just don't hit players with their heads down anymore in International hockey.

I don't think what Dillon did was particularly dirty in that how many times a game to you see guys from all teams us their stick that way? A lot! But maybe it can be considered the payback for what Hartman did to Ehlers last year, which truly was a dirty cheap shot. Since Kaprizov won't play today, we friendly Manitobans may call that even now...

It could have been called a 2 minute penalty but often they let it go. It will be interesting to see how Minnie deals with it.

I don't think a knuckle touched a face. Good defense I guess.
