Let's start with this, Scheifele and Vilardi will miss tonight's game. So for a seriously offensively challenged team to start with, this is pretty bad news.
The Leafs, for all their faults that I'm sure they have, can be a pretty lethal offensive force. Chance of keeping Matthews off the scoresheet are not good, so that combined with Jets lack of offense almost has me feeling like Jets are starting the game down a goal.
I am however somewhat buoyed by how the Jets finished the game against the Bruins, despite being completely unable to score. The reuniting of the Lowry Nino Appleton line seemed to give the Jets a big lift.
And even though Jets are starting their backup tonight, I think Jets have the advantage in net, not to mention defensively.
Brace ourselves for some severe TO centric telecasting!
From Illegal Curve:
Jets projected lines & D pairs:
Connor - Namestnikov - Ehlers Niederreiter - Lowry - Appleton Perfetti - Toninato - Iafallo Barron - Kupari - Jonsson-Fjallby
Morrissey - DeMelo Dillon - Pionk Samberg - Schmidt
Brossoit Hellebuyck
Go JETS GO!

Yeah missing them is probably near 'fatal'. So expectations will have to be tempered on my part. While Connor missing didn't effect the team missing your top center and then Vilardi is a big problem.
Lowry is super but he is not nor will he ever be a first or even second line center. So I like the lineup changes.

Watching this team without Sheif and now Vilardi has made it clear to me another top 6 forward should be a priority for Chevy. It would keep the team far more competitive in case of multiple injuries like we currently have. The bump down would make the 3rd and 4th a threat. But for now : Go Jets Go !

Did Cuthbert just predict Matthews will get at least 2 points tonight to reach a milestone?

Better forecheck early for the Jets.

The Toronto Make-Beliefs do not have the team discipline or work ethic the Bruins have shown. They can be had if frustrated by close checking and the Jets can do it. Jets cannot afford another lack-luster performance.

Did Cuthbert just predict Matthews will get at least 2 points tonight to reach a milestone? It's Toronto. We should expect it. In all their discussions about the game they just mention off handedly that Sheif and Vilardi are out .Can you imagine the never ending crying if it was Mathews and Nylander.

Almost afraid to watch the Jet power play. Should be no fear where the expectations are rock bottom.

DeMelo's shot doesn't have much velocity but he's taking good shots for deflections.

Did Cuthbert just predict Matthews will get at least 2 points tonight to reach a milestone? They can't help themselves. Crack cocaine made from maple sugar.
