It bothers me that Ehlers is Bones' whipping boy quite often. For all Ehlers mistakes, he recovers hard defensively and he continues to drive offense. I can't say the same for KC. He's been a zone killer and his back pressure is weak. Often non-existent. Why doesn't he get dropped down once in a while? Ehlers, Scheifele and Vilardi have been our best offensive line this season. Put them together, leave them alone, and let them find their game. Quit catering to Kyle Connor. Why keep making an example of the guy who leads the team in points per 60 minutes? This blender approach has these guys disconnected. Funny , Ehlers got the same from Paul Maurice. I'm not exactly sure why or what they are seeing that we don't. Bones said it was something in the 2nd period that he saw that got him bumped down. He didn't elaborate more than that.

He turned the puck over a couple of times. It's not as if numerous other Jets don't turn it over. KC has been a turnover machine of late. Bones should evaluate a player on what he does per game. Per 60 minutes. Per season. Ehlers has far and away the best offensive metrics on the team, when correlated to icetime, according to the experts that understand that stuff. Instead, he make a couple of mistakes, that don't lead to goals against, and there it is, for all to see. 4th line, Fly. It's not a good coaching look in my eyes. Most knowledgeable hockey people feel that he is not treated fairly and is not used properly. I agree. So, you punish a guy that gives you your best chance to score goals because you want to protect a 1 goal lead against the worst team in the league. Works against the Sharks, but what does it do for Ehlers? Aside from throttle back his creativity when you need it against teams that can score. If you make your most gifted players constantly thinking about making mistakes, maybe that explains the lack of scoring. There's my rant.

Many times these players have forgotten more than the coaches know, wrecks the game> There like game wardens?

If a coach thinks Ehlers is a regresive player I'd like to see Bones in his hockey Hilites ? You would have to use a View Master? To slow for Video?
