The way the Jets have been playing game 3 just might be a must win game. Hopefully not.

Because of last year and for example western final where Jets win the opener then screw the next four i think it's a huge psychological hurdle. It is virtually a must win.

I think there's a stat somewhere that shows Game 3 winners overwhelmingly win the series. Regardless of the first two games.

Just heard this on CJOB Sports, see below.
For tomorrowβs Friday night game in Denver:
Logan Stanley comes out, Nate Schmidt in.
So, itβs Schmidt and Samberg together as a D-pairing, Samberg goes back to his natural original side as a D-man.
Will this make a difference?
Cheers,

Ice Capades Ehlers needs to start playing playoff hockey. Helly needs to win this game or LB has to start game 4.Venzina trophies mean diddly if you crap the bed every playoff.

IMO we gotta get something/anything outta line 2. So many comments about Tofoli MIA and Ehlers playing ice capades....this line needs to show up. Glad Schmidt is in. That's been needed. Also if Helly plays bad we absolutely gotta bring in the wall. He's playing for next year, and a rock solid performance is going to benefit him and us moving forward. ( will they put Helly on the bench?? nope)
Oh and yes, this game is must-win...100%

I'm sitting on the fence on the must win thing. I'm leaning more toward must not lose badly.
If they play a good game and lose by a goal, or possibly in OT, I wouldn't write them off for game 4. A competitive loss might actually be something to build on after the way they were outplayed in the first 2. That said, could they win 3 of 4? Like I said. The fence.
If they go fetal under the Avs onslaught, then yeah. Done.
Our edge is supposed to be in net. It's time for Hellebuyck to step up.
Schmidt with Samberg again should help. Hopefully.

If we get to the point in this playoff, where the goaltender who's under contract for pretty much the rest of the decade, gets a seat in favor of the guy who's pretty much a rental, well my friends, we have hit rock bottom.
The mercy pull is in the realm of the possible, but barring injury, this staff will never start LB.

Yeah, I don't see the Jets as a team that looks at being down 2-1 as a rallying point and starts reeling off wins. Tonight isn't really a must win I don't think - or shouldn't be for a contending team - but a loss will be a test of their character obviously. From past history and what I saw on Tuesday, I really have my doubts they have it to win any more games if they drop this one. A win tonight will put those doubts on hold for at least until the end of game 4!
